Didier Drogba is the thirty two year old Ivorian footballer and he is an absolute legend. He was not well known out of the Ivory Coast and France when he initially came to Chelsea but Roman Abrahamovic that are the Blues owners had faith in their manager’s
decision to bring this player in.
The manager at the time was also Jose Mourinho, and he paid Marseille twenty four million pounds for this Ivory Coast International.
He is also a regular on the Ivory Coast National team and has been a part of them since 2002. He has made seventy one appearances with the national team and netted forty five goals.
He is also Chelsea’s sixth highest goal scorer of all time and started his professional football career in 1998 and finally made the move to Chelsea in 2004.
He quickly proved himself to be a worthy investment, as he scored sixteen goals in his first season playing with the Blues and gave Chelsea their first English Premier League win after fifty years.
After another two years, he bagged the Golden Boot award for his twenty league goals scored that season and almost took Chelsea to their Champions League win.
He scored two goals in the Champions League semi-finals against Liverpool and gave them a two to three defeat.
In the Finals match Didier Drogba suffered a low time in his career when he slapped Manchester United’s defender Nemanja Vidic on the playing field and then the match went onto penalty shots which saw the Blues lose after John Terry’s miss .
In their last season, Didier Drogba showcased his best form when he netted an astounding twenty nine goals in that season.
This season he has scored six goals and this includes a hat-trick on the first day of the season against West Bromwich Albion. Interestingly he also scored a hat-trick in the last match of last season.
Drogba has scored ninety goals from a hundred and seventy three league matches and forces a lot of influence on the football field.
He causes numerous hassles for his opponents, he is a powerful player and knows just how to handle and pivot the ball into his own advantage.
He is thirty two years old and far above the normal average age of excellence on the field but he is still at it and only getting better and that makes him the best striker in the English Premier League.
