Football Special Report: Football’s Best Eleven Midfielders in the World (Part 1)
Spain won the World Cup 2010 in the summer and they had the most talented players in the world playing in their forward lines, but Andres Iniesta and Xavi the midfielders played their parts as well.
This exactly shows how vital midfielders can be for a team, as they make the key linking bridge between from the defence lines to the attacking side.
Therefore, here is a list of the top eleven attacking midfielders and the centre attackers who make the team look so good:
Steven Gerrard
For the last ten years, Steven Gerrard has proved himself to be one of the finest midfielders in the world and he is considered to be a local hero at Anfield.
It was partly his efforts that gave the Reds the Champions League trophy in 2005 and in spite of the lack of trophies of the club, Gerrard is rated as one of the best to play his position in the world.
Steven Gerard is thirty years old and the captain of the English national team and Liverpool. He joined Liverpool’s youth academy in 1987, then made the first team line up in 1998, and then never left.
He has made three hundred and seventy two appearances for the club and netted eighty three goals. He also made the under twenty one national team in 1999 and made the first team squad in 2000.
In fact, he actually faces ridicule to the fact that such a talented player is still in a club like Liverpool.
This player has great vision, amazing techniques, amazing long range shooting and goal scoring skills.
Cesc Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas is a twenty three year old Spaniard and is thought to be one of the best midfielders in the world.
He is a product of the Barcelona Youth academy and then moved to the Gunners youth academy when he was only sixteen years old and was recruited by Arsene Wenger at the time.
He made the Gunners first team squad in 2003 at the age of sixteen and has never left. He has made a hundred and ninety one appearances for Arsenal and has scored thirty three goals.
He also became a part of the under sixteen’s Spanish national team squad and made the jump to the first team national squad in 2006.
He has broken numerous Arsenal records and made a reputation for himself to be the best in the world at his age to play the position of midfielder.
So far, Fabregas has not been able to imitate the achievements of his legendary team mates Iniesta and Xavi and some say that he never will but he definitely has the elements to make that possible.
His move to Barcelona has been rumoured for some time now and it is believed by many that this is his last season with Arsenal. Right now, he remains a key part of the Gunners team and is the captain of Arsenal.
He is a hero among fans and in spite of his inabilities to lead Arsenal to many trophies, this twenty three year old has shown attributes that don’t let anyone argue with his name in the list of best midfielders in the world.
Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard is the thirty two year old English player that plays as a midfielder for the Blues and the English national team.
He made the first team national squad in 1999 and has been playing professional football since 1995 and made the move to Chelsea in 2001.
He has been named the Premier League player of the decade as according to his official statistics and is without a doubt seen as one of the best midfielders in the English Premier League.
His goal scores and number of assists are almost unmatched by any other and last season he scored twenty two goals and for a midfielder that is an amazing number.
