Football Special Report: Lassana Diarra (Real Madrid) Could Leave in January (Part 2)
Manchester United
One of world’s most successful clubs, the English giants will approach Real Madrid in winters over the prospect of signing Lassana Diarra.
Reports suggest that manager of the Red Devils is desperate to strengthen his midfield for the second half of the season, and has pinpointed Diarra as his number one target.
The aim to land Lassana at Old Trafford would be to fill for injury prone Owen Hargreaves. Along with that, Sir Alex Ferguson is also considering to find a perfect replacement for Manchester United’s aging midfielders, Scholes and Giggs. Lassana Diarra has
all the qualities to replace these two legendary midfielders and in addition to that, Diarra also possesses the precious Premier League experience that will surely help him to adjust with Manchester United in no time.
The 25-year-old midfielder is likely to cost United in the region of €20 million, but with their manager remaining prudent with his spending during the summer, there are funds available to finance the deal.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs have been linked with a move for the former Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth enforcer, but it is now thought that United are at the head of the queue. Real Madrid are also willing to break even on the transfer overall in order
to recoup some of their summer expenditures and fund a January move for the striker.
Moreover, there is also some interest reported from other parts of Europe for the want away enforcer of Real Madrid, Lassana Diarra.
Juventus
According to media reports, ‘The Old Lady’ are planning to offload their midfielder, Mohammed Sissoko to German Champions, Wolfsburg. In return, they are looking forward to sign the French defensive midfielder, Lassana Diarra.
Sissoko was expected to leave the club this summer, but time elapsed and the Italian failed to finish up a deal with the Wolfsburg, who had offered €8 million.
However, negotiations are expected to restart in the New Year and once Mohammed heads to Wolfsburg, the Italian giants will have the chance to carry off their move for Lassana.
The French defensive midfielder is a serious candidate for Juventus, but the operation will only be co-ordinated if Mohammed leaves.
Questions surround Wolfsburg's previous bid as it was not considered impressive after Juventus had paid €12m for Sissoko two years ago.
Even, Los Blancos' midfielder Lass has himself offered his biggest hint yet that he will leave Real Madrid during the winter transfer window, saying that he isn't pleased with his playing time so far in this term.
Lassana has so far made appearances in six of Real’s eight matches this season, but has only featured from the start in three of those encounters. He deems that level of involvement as unacceptable.
Speaking to journalists ahead of France’s Euro 2012 ties versus Romania and Luxembourg, Lassana Diarra said,
“I seem to play one in every two games. I want more minutes, and if I am unhappy, then I will draw my own conclusions. I’m not willing to be a spectator. I want to play.”
It has been reported that Lass Diarra would love return to Barclays Premier League and Liverpool are favourites to land the former Arsenal and Chelsea player at Anfield.
