Football Special Report: Lessons Learned from the Gunners VS Citizens Match (Part 3)
Article Continued from Part 2.
Even when the players like Adebayor get replaced for Tevez, the team seems less threatening as his work on the field is always sorely missed.
Carlos Tevez has scored seven goals for the Citizens out of the total tally of twelve from the team. This is a fantastic score as the statistics only shows signs of improving with this players form. Balotelli came on the field in the second half and he
has recently recovered from an injury, still the player had little impact on the match and far less then what was expected from him.
David Silva was a dangerous force on the field in this match as he had amazing footwork, and if he was not constantly prevented from scoring by Fabianski then he might have taken the win for the Blues. Still the Citizens are looking somewhat ‘flat’ without
Carlos Tevez and they were constantly having issues defending their own goal line.
Keeping in mind that the Gunners have kept sixteen clean sheets in their away matches, the problem is that the team relies too much or Carlos Tevez and this was a match where they had to pay the price for this.
Manchester City desperately needs to find another prolific goal scorer that can challenge even the likes of Chelsea when it comes down to the league title at the end of the season.
Manchester City Defensive Weaknesses
The Citizens did not help themselves in the match against the Gunners as there was a very poor and pathetic challenge on the field from the likes of Dedryck Boyata and with only ten men standing after the first five minutes of the game it did seem like the
Blues were in for a thrashing.
Manchester City constantly kept showing defensive frailties in the match and the first goal that was netted by the Gunners was too easy to have gone through.
The second goal came when Wayne Bridge took a shot into the centre of the box when he should have just whacked it out as far as he could as the ball was so close to his own goal post.
The Gunners star Cesc Fabregas was actually allowed to just stroll right past the defenders with absolute easy which led to Manchester City giving away a penalty.
Jerome Boateng when passing to the back almost netted the ball himself which would have been a humiliating own goal for the Citizens. Manchester City needs to improve ten folds if they are serious about becoming the title winners this season.
The club has showcased that they can stay solid and consistent when they want to be and right now is not the time that they can afford to lose valuable points like this.
Beautiful Football Can Be Successful
The Gunners is a club that loves to play this beautiful game of football, as it is argued about Arsenal that they are one of the best passers in the league.
The club always has perfect point passes and plays the game with showcasing a certain quality play to it. Even in this last match against the Citizens, they were very impressive as they could have taken long shots towards the goal but rather than doing that,
they were always trying to literally walk the ball into the net.
In a total overview, the Gunners made twelve attempts at the goal and eight of them were on target. Manchester City was only able to take three shots at the Gunners goal posts that were off target and then they took another six that were on target.
