(Continued from part 1)
Nonetheless, Arsenal bagged all three points at East lands. Here are the player ratings of Arsenal.
Player Ratings
Lukasz Fabianski: 8.5:
An excellent performance by the much maligned Gunners keeper and was successful in keeping clean sheet.
Since February, Arsenal has failed to maintain a clean sheet in any competition. The Polish shot stopper did well enough to earn his team the much needed clean sheet.
Fabianski made a number of extraordinary, dynamic saves that ensured Manchester was unable to find the back of the Gunners net.
Fabianski has taken full advantage of the chance give to him in absence of his senior, Manuel Almunia. It seems like that the 25-year-old will now be Arsenal first choice keeper for rest of the season.
Bacary Sagna: 7.5:
It was a strong defensive and attacking effort from the veteran right back of Arsenal. Bacary Sagna performed extremely well after returning from an injury which he sustained on international duty.
The returning right back contained the likes of Milner and Silva with ease alongside making a number of gallant interceptions.
Moreover, Sagna contributed greatly down the right flank in attack.
Sebastien Squillaci: 6.5:
The new signing of Arsene Wenger was caught out on occasion by the pulsating Manchester attack but showed great experience and defensive skill to contain what was thrown at him.
Johan Djourou: 5.5:
Johan Djourou was exposed in defence struggling to deal with the tenacity of Manchester City attackers.
Early on, the imposing Swiss was lucky that his poor defending did not result in a Manchester goal.
However, the 23-year-old was quite impressive in the last third of the match and his confidence grew as the game wore on.
Gael Clichy: 6.5:
The veteran left back of Arsenal was predominantly convincing in attack despite being beaten by speedy right forward of Manchester City.
Alexandre Song: 8:
It was a marvellous performance from the defensive midfielder of Arsenal. The Cameroon midfielder showed great physicality alongside making a number of crucial tackles and interceptions that broke down the Manchester attack.
Moreover, Alex Song scored the all-important second goal with a neat finish too.
Cesc Fabregas: 8:
The courageous skipper of Arsenal may have missed a penalty but there is no denying his work ethic and attacking mobility.
Fabregas orchestrated a number of Gunners attacks and always made his presence felt in defence.
Denilson: 7:
The Brazilian midfielder was tidy and composed despite finding himself on the end of some strong challenges from the likes of Nigel De Jong and Gareth Barry.
However, The Samba star contributed credibly in attack without setting the scene alight and made a number of efficient tackles.
Samir Nasri: 8.5:
It was an outstanding game from the French prodigy. A fabulous one-two with Arshavin opened the scoring and Samir continued to cut open the Manchester defence with a number of runs and passes.
Samir Nasri also assisted Nicklas Bendtner with a sublime pass to score the third and final goal of the match.
Andrei Arshavin: 6.5:
The diminutive left winger of Arsenal had a fluctuating performance.
The Russian skipper was often wasteful and lazy but did also provide an extra dimension in attack as well as providing some useful passes.
Andrei Arshavin shocked the whole world when he tracked back to effectively defend a Tevez run.
Marouane Chamakh: 7:
It was a remarkable performance from the Moroccan striker. Chamakh completed a host of work that included piercing runs.
He was also responsible for sending off of Manchester City’s defender Boyata.
Chamakh showed great control on the ball but did miss an opportunity or two.
