Football Special Report: Manchester United wining streak finished as they lose to West Ham United
West Ham United played an excellent game and completely took control of the match against their giants Rival Manchester United in the quarterfinal match played on the November 30th. The red devils have been enjoying the unbeaten streak for quite
some time but no one could have possibly imagined the outcome of match to be this worst. It is a shame for the red devils and as far as Avram Grant’s team is concerned, they got what they deserved.
 The match seemed more like “déjà Vu” of the shameful result of Barcelona beating Real Madrid. Manchester united rather seemed uninterested in the match, with the manager Alex Ferguson using his inexperienced squad for the kick off. There was no major change
in the starting eleven of red devils except for Anderson. Why did not Ferguson use his more experienced and in form players? Was he not interested in the match, is probably the question he would be thinking of. Ryan Giggs, Darren Fletcher and John O’shea tried
to handle the situation for their team, but were no match for the highly motivated West Ham United team.
On the contrary, the Hammers played the game of their lives and their clean sheet said it all. They scored four sick goals and managed to retain possession and pressure over the Man Utd. Jonathan Spector, former Red Devil, opened the scoring account for
his team in the 22nd minute and showed extreme class for his fellow men to follow. Carlton Cole did what he was paid to do, score goals. The lethal combination of Spector and Cole made the match difficult for Alex Ferguson to watch as they scored
two goals each, one short of a hat trick to put their team ahead of red devils in the 66th minute. The score would have been different if the Obinna’s goal had not been denied for offside, although a correct decision but it made the manager Avram
Grant and his team furious and frustrated.
Who would have thought of the fame and glory which was written for the Hammers? Manchester United fighters just managed to have two shots on targets. There were couples of close calls where they could have converted the through passes into goals but nothing
was going for them. It would be much better to say that the Hammers defended and guarded their goal post far better than the red devils. They had more shots on the target, three more to be precise. Besides having more chances with corners, the red devil seemed
helpless and frustrated. Imagine Fergie burning with anger and desperation in the snow with his team down to four goals, and you would pretty good idea what he would have felt to see when a “push in the back” of John O’Shea was not called off a foul that could
have resulted in a penalty.
All in all, the hammer have proceeded to the Semi’s of the Carling Cup.  The Hummers felt and were undisputedly the winners of that night. It was a special win for their Boss as he elaborated by saying, “To perform like this against the best team today
in the country and score four goals, what more can I ask?” moreover, he exclaimed that he was surprised to see his team winning the match with such a huge margin but was never ever under estimated the talent of his players. Now that’s a great “headline”.
With players like Spector showing great potential and extra ordinary talent, why would not any coach be happy?
During a post match interview, Hammers boss complemented the efforts of Spector.
“He's always trying hard, even when he didn't play.” And concluded the interview with the encouraging words;
"If we continue to perform, continue to focus and continue as individuals and as a team then we can do it."
