Football Special Report: News from all the Barclays Premier League Clubs after the Weekend (Part 1)
Arsenal
Arsenal legendary manager claims that his veteran left winger, Andrei Arshavin, is the most creative player in the English Premier League. Moreover, the Russian skipper also confesses that he has had "some good games and some bad, nothing unusual" this campaign.
While it has unquestionably not been the same influence which followed his arrival in a £15million deal during January 2009, ‘The Professor’ feels the diminutive winger has contributed plenty to Arsenal, with five goals so far.
Arsene Wenger said: "If you look at the stats, he is the player who has created more chances than everybody else in the Premier League this season, so his numbers are quite surprising to people who think he has not done so well. I believe that since
the start of the season in the Premier League, he has been better at creating chances than anyone else."
Aston Villa
The left winger of ‘The Villans’, Young, has voiced to his club that he will not be signing a new deal before the summer. The English speedy winger was signed by then, manager of Aston Villa, Martin O'Neill in 2007. The 25-year-old claims that he is happy
at Aston Villa but does not want to be unfocused.
Ashley Young said: "I've told the people at Villa that I won't be signing a new contract at the moment. I know they want to get it done now but my current deal still has a year to run after this season and I feel there is plenty of time to talk next
summer. I want to stress that I have no problem with Aston Villa. I love the fans and I'm very much enjoying my football. I want to concentrate on what's happening on the field and don't want to get distracted. It's a big season for me and I'm hopeful there
are good times ahead under the new manager."
Birmingham City
Birmingham City’s new boy, Nikola Zigic, has played down rumours relating him with a move away from St Andrews. The 6 feet 8 inches Serbian giant also said that he is happy with his new club. The 30-year-old striker was landed by Blues from Spanish giants
Valencia for 6 million.
However, the ex-Valencia striker has so far struggled to command a regular first-team spot. Zigic has managed to get 10 appearances so far. He scored his first Premier League goal against Arsenal two weeks ago.
The Blue striker has laughed off claims that he will be ready to leave Birmingham after only a few months. The Serbian international said: "I was aware of the speculation about Sporting Lisbon and I found it quite amusing. But really I am a Birmingham
player. I enjoy being here. I am certainly going to try my best for the club and something I want to do is progress my career here. You always get some speculation from other clubs and what have you. But I am a Birmingham player, I signed a contract in the
summer, I enjoy playing with the boys, we are a good squad and I'm more than happy being here."
Blackburn Rovers
Rovers have signed a young French midfielder Herold Goulon, who has been a free agent since leaving Le Mans this summer. The 22-year-old was signed on an initial two-year contract, which also includes an option for a further season. The French midfielder
had had been on trial at Blackburn Rovers since last month.
Moreover, the young French midfielder had previously been signed by Middlesbrough as a teenager, but was released without playing a first-team match.
