Football Special Report: Player Profile – Arjen Robben
During his run with his country, Netherlands, he made a huge impact on the team. With their amazing “all winning” run to the FIFA World Cup 2010, Robben was the man who played a vital part throughout the matches that the Dutch side played. Soon, when the Dutch were preparing themselves for the FIFA World Cup 2010, he was sent in for the team as a second half substitute, as Netherlands faced Hungary in a pre World Cup match.
Even though he managed to score two goals right after he was introduced on the field, he still managed to prove his reputation of being a “glass man,” as he pulled his hamstring, was carried out from the ground, and was out for a little time. Many thought that the “awkward pass” that he was trying to play would rule him out of the FIFA World Cup 2010, but he still managed to fight through the injury and he came back for his team and helped them win a lot of games.
His run in the FIFA World Cup wasn’t very precise, even though he missed the group stages during the tournament. Robben was able to come back in the round of 16 after the injury that he picked during the pre world cup matches. He helped his team win the round of 16 matches against Slovakia but he still didn’t manage to find the form that he had in the club.
Robben didn’t really perform out of the world throughout the FIFA World Cup, however, he still managed to help his team with his threatening right wing moves. With the likes of amazing players like Robin Van Persie and Wesley Sneijder, it was the dynamic trio and more of Sneijder who helped the team win a lot of matches, as they won all the matches throughout the FIFA World Cup 2010 and were able to reach the finals with an “all win” record.
In the Final match of the FIFA World Cup 2010, Arjen Robben was denied by the Spanish defender Puyol and the Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, as he was right in front of the goal twice. He couldn’t really manage to find the form that he had with his club during his time in Bayern Munich, as he missed two very vital goals and if he actually managed to score them both, he could be hailed as a hero in Netherlands. It was all Robben during the semi final match against Brazil, as they won the semi final and came to the final match in South Africa to face the very amazing Spanish side.
Arjen Robben, even though he is an amazing player, didn’t really manage to win a lot of trophies to himself. He couldn’t really win the best trophy of Europe, the Champions League, as he managed to reach the final but still couldn’t help the team win the cup; and the FIFA World Cup 2010. However, he managed to take his team to the final match of the FIFA World Cup 2010 but still they lost the match 1-0, as Andres Iniesta was the player who scored the goal for his team and won the final match of the most important stages of them all, the FIFA World Cup.
Arjen Robben, the glass man, needs to find his form but he is still a very vital player for his club, Bayern Munich. Munich definitely needs a player like him, as he is only 26 years old and that is the reason why he is definitely going to feature in the next FIFA World Cup 2010. At that time, he is going to have a lot of experience and he might even feature as the Dutch Captain, when the team is going to take its position on the field.
