Football Special Report: Premier League Team Of The Week – Part 2
Richard Dunne: Centre Back - Aston Villa
In spite of Richard Dunne’s disappointing start in this campaign, he has proved why he is one of Aston Villa’s best assisters in the game. Last year he had the most assists for the Lily Whites and is still doing justice to his
reputation.
Dunne remains in the middle of the defence in Aston Villa while making key interceptions, tackles, blocks and this includes a vital block that he made on Rafael Van Der Vaart in the last match.
Richard Dunne was just ill fated to be on the losing side as this player definitely deserved to be on the winning side.
Leighton Baines: Left Back – Everton
Everton’s left back Leighton Baines showed how good he and his team was, in spite of the fact that Everton is in the relegation zone, this team did not leave out anything out to make its fans love them.
The Toffees won the match in one of the harshest places and Leighton Baines came out being the man of the match.
Everything that Everton pushed through to the furthest side of the field or towards the left was the result of the twenty five years old English player’s actions.
He gave Birmingham City FC a tough time in the game and constantly kept coming up with new problems for his opponents and no matter how hard the team tried they could not shut Baines down.
Marc Albrighton: Right Midfield - Aston Villa
Marc Albrighton has gotten himself back in the starting eleven squad for Aston Villa, although this was already predicted by some fans and football pundits.
In spite of losing the game Aston Villa started out shinning in the match and Marc Albrighton was becoming the key element in the team’s win in that match.
Albrighton worked tirelessly in the forward and back of the field, adding in the defence whenever he could. He had shown great form and resilience and was trying to be everywhere in the match.
He also scored a goal in the match and this was the outcome of the player only trying to push the odds. His willingness was a key factor as he got into the goal line box and did not give up on himself.
This player exhibited a lot of energy in the match and his commitment to the team from the start of the match combined with his work rate was commendable.
He established himself as a definite playmaker and scored in the 80th minute of the match.
Michael Essien: Centre Midfield - Chelsea
One of the chief additions to the Blues this year was not a new transfer but the return of the twenty seven year old midfielder, defender, Michael Essien.
The Ghanaian international was there to break every attempt that the Gunners made to score against Chelsea. His efforts, work rate and stamina are second to none on the team and he seems to be in his best shape.
Michael Essien was too much of a defender for the Gunners to handle, with his mastered nutmegs and passes he was a force that no one could counter.
Steed Malbranque: Centre Midfield – Sunderland
Steed Malbranque is a Belgian born French player; he is thirty years old and is considered to be an underrated footballer. But he proved just what he was capable of when he played against the Red Devils.
Malbranque is an orchestrator; all of Sunderland’s attacks are deployed or made due to his hard work. It was single handedly Steed Malbranque’s movement and workings that gave Sunderland the edge that they needed to keep pushing
against Manchester United in the next half.
