Football Special Report: Real Madrid And Barcelona- Comparison Between The Two Giants
There were some glitches in the beginning, but the La Liga season is shaping up to be exactly as expected. Valencia enjoyed some time on top of the league table, but now the top two spots have been replaced by the rather well know Barcelona and Real Madrid.
However, there is still something that a lot people did not expect. Real Madrid is sitting on top of Barcelona, with a difference of only one point. The problems were created for the Catalans when they failed to produce results in some of their home matches,
which included a terrible defeat against recently promoted Hercules side. Nevertheless, things have been running smoothly for both clubs in their previous matches, while they have been scoring a lot of goals as well.
One of the biggest surprises of this season is the way Real Madrid is playing at the moment. When Jose Mourinho became in charge of the affairs, it was expected that the things would change for Real Madrid. Rather than playing their normal attacking game,
Madrid would focus more on the defensive side. However, Mourinho proved everyone wrong when he made no such indication during the summer transfer window. Rather, all his additions to the Madrid side were attacking in nature, despite the fact that the lapses
were in the defence.
This change of strategy created problems for Madrid in the beginning, as they found it hard to produce results. But, everyone knows that Mourinho is a fast learner and a great tactician. He made his plans work and now Real Madrid is scoring like crazy. They
are scoring more frequently and going even better than Barcelona, who are better known for this. Although, the difference on the points table is only one point, but the difference in their games is tremendous at the moment.
The problem for Barcelona is that no one, except Lionel Messi, is coming out and scoring goals for his team. As Messi has scored 7 in the league, while he came up with 5 in the Champions League, others still lag behind. Barcelona’s new signing, David Villa,
has scored only four in the league, but he has been extremely unlucky in recent days. In the last two or three weeks, the Spanish international has hit the post as many as four times. Everyone knows that when Barcelona relies solely on Messi, the problems
are created. So, it is very important for them that Villa starts finding the net more than often.
There is another thing that makes Real Madrid better than Barcelona at the moment. All the Madrid’s important players, including Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain are playing well at the moment. On the other hand, Xavi and
Andres Iniesta are still far away from their perfect game, which is troublesome for Barcelona.
The battle between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi is also heating up in this season. Ronaldo is far ahead of his rival in the league, as the Portuguese international has already scored 12 goals in the season. Messi, however, leads the Champions League
goal scoring tally. Overall, Messi is slightly ahead because of the hat-trick he scored in the Spanish Super Cup. Nevertheless, both these players are in the best forms of their life, which is making La Liga more interesting than ever.
The El-Classico, match between Barcelona and Madrid, is also approaching, which would take place in the last week of November. At this point, there is not much of difference between both sides and after two years in a row, Barcelona is no longer the favourites
to win it. However, Barcelona might have a slight edge on their opponents if Madrid adopts a similar attacking style. This is because of the fact that Barcelona enjoys a lot more possession during their matches.
Pep Guardiola should not take Jose Mourinho lightly. He beat Barcelona when he was at Inter Milan, while he would adapt himself once again and would come prepared from all the angles. One thing is for sure that the match between the archrivals would be the
most important match of this season, among all the leagues of Europe.
