Football Special Report: Spanish Liga Preview (Part 1)
The Catalan giants Barcelona are going to be playing late tonight as their Spanish La Liga rivals, Real Madrid are going to be kicking off two hours before them while Valencia are going to start their weekend game half an hour before the Los Blancos. The
second place Villareal are going to play at Sporting as they are going to travel away from home on Sunday, while Espanyol are going to be looking for a win on the same day at their home ground La Coruna. If Espanyol manage to win the game, they might find
a spot in the top four.
As the midweek fixtures belonged to the Spanish Cup, now the Spanish La Liga is going to be diverting the Spanish teams’ attention towards itself, as teams like Racing, who lost away to Cordoba and Villareal along with Getafe, who drew away to lower league
teams, are all going to try and forget what happened before the weekend. They are going to forget about their slip ups that took place in the Spanish Cup. This can only happen if they try and perform well on the weekend while competing for the Spanish La Liga.
The last week’s league toppers Valencia had a very bad time during the week before the last week. They were beaten for the first time against Barcelona and last week they had to face Mallorca and home and Michael Laudrop’s side emerged to be victorious as
Mallorca won the game 1-2 at the home ground of Valencia.
Even though they had two terrible weeks in the Spanish La Liga, they were the ones who were being entertained by Logrones as they went away from home to face a Division 2B side in the Spanish Cup. Valencia emerged to be victorious as they won the game 0-3
away from home and that win might have given them the confidence boost that they required to face the bottom of the table club, Real Zaragoza; the side who also won during the midweek as they defeated Betis 0-1 away from home.
Valencia’s match is really important for them as it is Emery’s chance to stay in touch with the top three teams, as they are going to be visiting Sevilla and Villareal in November. On the other hand, Real Zaragoza also need to pick up some pace as their
coach g*y is very much under pressure and needs to find a win this season. The must-win situation for both the teams is going to make the match even more interesting.
The Real Madrid left back, Roysten Drenthe was loaned out to the newly promoted side Hercules during the summer transfer window as he failed to impress Jose Mourinho and the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, the Dutchman has been over impressive during
his run in the new club and he is currently a key figure in Hercules’ successful start of the season.
