He also improved a lot when it came to blocking goals and his aerial abilities substantially escalated.
George Swindin went on to gain his second and third championship medals in the 1947-48 season and the 1951-52 season.
He also made it to the FA Cup twice but eventually his increasing age started to take its toll on the player and he was finally outsourced by a talented goalie named Welshman Jack Kelsey.
This player also later made the books in the club’s lucrative history and is still remembered in high regard in the club and his fans.
Frank Moss, 1931-37
Then comes the great Frank Moss, he was a part of Arsenal in the thirties and played in the first team for six years.
Moss used to play for Oldham Athletic and his performances there made the arsenal manager show interest in him.
Herbert Chapman was the then manager of Arsenal, he got interested in the player and then Bob Wall who was the assistant manager was even more impressed by his hand work and especially his physical courage.
He was finally recruited to Arsenal and made his debut in the game against the Blues, and from then to the time he retired, he was always present in Arsenal’s starting line up.
Frank Moss constantly kept coming on till the next four seasons, and in his second year he made the pivotal change in the team that gave Arsenal their first division trophy.
The season after that he made heart stopping saves and his bravery was known by all. He always used to have the final word in the drama and because of this player, Sunderland was at the top of the division, and Arsenal was only a point behind them.
Then it all came down to the match between Arsenal and Everton that was held at Goodison Park, as if they won that match then they would win the division title.
Moss sadly had a major shoulder injury and had to play out of his original position and this was way out of his position as he played the left wing.
In spite of his injury and playing out of his position, Moss netted the first goal for Arsenal in that match and gave the Gunners their two to nil victory and this goal remained to be his only goal of his entire career.
Given that he is a goal keeper, this is all very impressive, even as he was playing out of position.
His skills, bravery and endless talent made him make five appearances for the Three Lions and he is undoubtedly one of the greatest Arsenal players to grace the team.
Bob Wilson, 1963-74
Bob Wilson was a Scottish footballer that started playing for Arsenal at the age of twenty two; he started off late with football as his father used to believe that it was not a proper job and just a waste of his time and ultimately his life.
Still Wilson had the final word in this decision and he started with football either ways as that was what he was loved.
In 1963, the player joined the Gunners as an amateur player; he was initially signed by the North London team for a fee of only sixty five hundred pounds.
His debut for the team came shortly afterwards, when he played in the match against Nottingham Forest in mid October but was still not made a part of the first team at the time.
