Football Special Report: The Gunners Star Team of the Last Decade (Part 3)

Central Midfielder: Patrick Viera – Captain
He is thought to be a complete midfielder and is ranked by fans as the fifth best all time Arsenal player.
Patrick Viera left the Gunners in 2005 and moved to Juventus and he stayed there for a season and then made a move to Inter Milan.
Last season he was brought back to the English Premier League and was signed by the Eastlanders. He still is considered to be a favourite among the Gunners fans and was appreciated with an inspiring and a roaring crowd when he played at the Emirates last
season.

Central Midfielder: Cesc Fabregas
The Current Gunners captain is Cesc Fabregas and is believed to be worthy of this spotlight when he is considered to be one of Arsenal’s best like Patrick Viera and Thierry Henry.
Cesc Fabregas was signed from FC Barcelona at the age of sixteen by Arsene Wenger. Wenger believed in this youngster and gave him numerous chances but all the credit goes to the player as he passed through every test with flying colours.
Fabregas continuously kept improving his form and worked harder than ever. He was a very creative player on the field from an early age and improved tremendously with his time in Arsenal.
He made himself recognized as one of the best central midfielders in the world at the age of twenty three and still has a lot of time left in his career.
He is looking towards lifting a trophy for the Gunners and Fabregas is the type of player that his team looks to him to always create some creativity in the field and spark the game into action.
Cesc Fabregas was named the Captain of the Gunners when William Gallas was stripped of this rank. Fabregas has the highest tally of goals scored, assists in the last season for Arsenal, and was nominated to be the PFA player of the year award.
The player says that his only regret with the club is that he has not won enough trophies and looks to end this no trophy streak.

Winger: Robert Pires
Robert Pires had an extraordinary career with the Gunners but his career ended with the club on a very sad note.
He was substituted in a Champions League Final match just after twelve minutes, when he got removed from the field to replace the red carded goal keeper, Jens Lehman.
The player later commented on the matter by saying that it was a very disappointing matter for him when he saw his number on the board to be substituted after only twelve minutes of play in his last game with the club. He had spent six years with Arsenal
and all his family had come to Paris to watch him play his last match which was a Champions League final match. All of this was very hard to take for the player.
Though his six years in Arsenal were very good for the player as he was rated as one of the best in the team and the fans just loved him. The fans loved his contributions to the team and have voted him as the sixth best player in Arsenal’s history.
Robert Pires did struggle with his form in his first season with the club but then quickly adjusted to the English Premier League’s style of play and gave the team plays that just enchanted the crowds.
His career did end with a disappointing match but he captured the hearts of all the Gunner fans and will always be remembered as an important member of the ‘Invincible team.’
