Football Special Report: The world best currently active managers
Having a team of good football players is not enough to create the perfect combination to create a winning squad. Along with a good team, you need a manager who has the presence of mind and tactical awareness that could help the team form a solid unit. It is safe to say that behind every successful team there is a manager pulling all the strings.
Jose Mourinho was once reported to have said that, "the best coach is the one who wins most." Keeping that in mind, here is a look at the best managers in the world who are currently managing teams.
Giovanni Trapattoni
The most successful manager in the history of Italian football is without a doubt, Giovanni Trapattoni.
The manager has managed to win the Serie A on seven separate occasions; he won it six times with Juventus and once with Inter Milan. He has won the European cup with Juventus, the UEFA Cup on three occasions and the Cup Winners Cup once. In total, he was won twenty one titles in the four different countries where he has managed teams.
He also has a very impressive win percentage of 52.8%
Jose Mourinho
It seems like it was only yesterday that Jose Mourinho made his move to coach Porto. In this short period of time, he has emerged to be one of the most successful managers ever. He has won the domestic league with, Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan. His greatest success however came in Europe when he won the Champions League with Porto from Portugal and Inter Milan from Italy.
Some people might not like his defensive approach to playing matches, but his success cannot be denied. If he manages to win the La Liga in Spain with Real Madrid, he will become one of the few managers to have won in four different leagues. If he manages to however win the Champions League, he will become the first manager to ever do so with three different teams.
So far, Mourinho has had a sixty seven% win average.
Pep Guardiola
In Guardiola’s first season as manager of Barcelona, he managed to do something that most managers don’t do during their entire lifetimes. He took charge of a Barcelona side that were running short of ideas and creativity and helped them win six trophies in a single year. This was despite the fact that it was his first job as a manager.
Some might say that he was gifted with a team that had all the raw abilities and talents that were needed to be so successful, however if that was the case then Real Madrid would have been winning everything for ages now. In his two years as manager of the team, he has already won eight trophies, a record that is quite astounding when one thinks about it and the only thing the manager can now do, is win even more trophies.
He so far has a winning percentage of 71%
Alex Ferguson
Quite possibly the most successful manager in the history of football, is Alex Ferguson. The manager has managed to win forty six titles and thirty five of those trophies came in the twenty four years when he has been in charge of Manchester United. He has quite simply won everything that you could possibly win with a team.
The manager joined United when Liverpool were dominating English football and the score between the two teams were, eighteen titles to seven in favour of Liverpool. Twenty four years later the manager has managed to level the score at eighteen titles a piece.
It is stats like these and the managers resilience that have made him quite possibly the best manager of all time
Over his illustrious career, the manager has had an astounding 57.5% win percentage.
