Football Special Report: Things to expect in 2011 (Part 2)
Jose Mourinho to call himself ‘the best manager ever’
This one will most definitely happen. The legendary coach has won almost everything on club level in his 11 years of management. Some managers, Claudio Ranieri for instance, are yet to win a single major league title.
Last season, Mourinho won the treble with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan in spectacular fashion and staying true to his unpredictable nature, made the move to Real Madrid. His primary objective in the capital is to win the Champions League – Galacticos desperately hunt for
the elusive 10th big eared trophy.
Should ‘The Special One’ manage to win the primary continental competition for second season in a row, he will most definitely call himself the best manager of all times. We suspect he will bid to overthrow the Spanish King should he register such a triumph.
Pele to make a wrong prediction for 2011 Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390
The Brazilian legend was arguably the best player in the history of the game – depending on whether you are in Team Maradona or Team http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pele-c40189 – but his understanding of the game; his predictions in particular are a laughing stock.
It is often said that just the opposite of what Pele had predicted comes true. The Brazilian will, in all probability, make a prediction for the Copa America that is set to be played in Argentina.
We expect Pele to predict a Brazilian triumph only for Selecao to be humbled in the final at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 – the prediction of doom. A score line of 3 – 0 would do justice to the legend’s prediction.
Real Madrid to buy another Star
Florentino Perez is obsessed with football stars and he collects them as trophies. Where Mr. President landed two of the biggest footballing luminaries in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 and Kaka, the shopping spree continued with the prized captures of Angel Di Maria,
Mesut Ozil and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 this season.
Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to bring in another forward – http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-Pato-c4901
all are on the shortlist. We expect Mr. Perez to sanction another outrageously expensive capture in 2011.
Inflated transfer market
As if the free spending duo of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 and Real Madrid wasn’t enough, we now have another club willing to shell out precious millions on thinly talented players – Manchester City. Sheikh Mansour has all the money in the world to spend and 145 million
Euros spent on transfers this year alone show the Arab isn’t shy of spending his petro dollars.
With a few quality players available in the market, the debt ridden clubs are expected to make outrageous bids for the players’ services. European clubs wanting to stay within their means will have to look for bargain captures.
We hope UEFA President Micheal Platini will bring around the financial rules to curb the exorbitant spending – clubs should only be allowed to spend what they earn from the club.
