Football Special Report: Things we learnt from Barcelona’s recent form (Part 3)
Another player who did not come out of Barcelona’s youth academy is their new signing David Villa. He is simply a goal scoring machine and an expert in Spanish football. He is definitely a success in Barcelona at the moment. He managed to net five goals
during the FIFA World Cup 2010 and not all of them come out with individual efforts. Seven Barcelona players were there to back him up and with the help of their amazing throughout balls, Villa found the net five times to take his team to the final of the
tournament and eventually they won it.
Three players that are actually under rated when it comes to Barcelona’s bench are Pedro Rodriguez, Sergio Busquets and Bojan Krkic. It is true that the young Spanish striker Bojan is still trying to find the form that he had last year but everyone knows
that he is an extraordinary talent. He can score goals from long range and he can also move up front to dodge the goalkeeper or even chip above his head. The young Barcelona starlet is definitely going to become a great player in a matter of one to two years
– he just needs a little first team experience.
Pedro Rodriguez has proven his worth time and time again. Not only during his time in Barcelona, but also while playing for the Spanish side. No one really thought that the Spanish coach was going to play him with players like Cesc Fabregas, David Silva
and Jesus Navas on the bench but it is true that the “kid” has done wonders. He has helped the team a lot of times and he has adapted well with Barcelona’s style of play.
While playing under players like Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Thierry Henry and Xavi Hernandez, he has made his way to the top and he has shown the world what he is worth. The “ambidextrous” winger can easily cut in towards the eighteen yard box and he
can easily help the team by adding goals to his name and to his side. A lot of times, Pedro is the one who cuts in and provides with killer through balls and sometimes it is him on the receiving end and he easily finishes the ball into the net.
Sergio Busquets is simply a genius. Many say that he is not a perfect replacement for Yaya Toure and the newly signed Javier Mascherano should be played as a holding midfielder for the Catalan giants. However, this is not exactly true. Sergio Busquets is
a player who does not really believe in making a run forward to help the team score goals (like Yaya Toure). However, he is the one who fills in the space between the defence and Gerard Pique is the one who makes a move forward to help the team with his assists
and goal scoring techniques.
Sergio Busquest is definitely a great player and also very physical. When the team is up front trying to score goals with the help of slow build ups, Sergio Busquets sacrifices glory for the team and falls back at the defensive role to help the team defend.
It is true that Barcelona are weak at the back whenever they are being counter attacked but after the inclusion of Busquets in the squad, they don’t really concede a lot of goals.
Recently, Busquets proved everyone wrong as the critics used to say that he does not really move forward to help the team attack but during the match against Atletic Club, he was the one who ran forward, took the ball from Pedro and finished it brilliantly
into the net to give Barcelona a two goal advantage.
