5. Gerd Muller (Germany)
The German player was known as “the Bomber” during his successful years that he enjoyed in the German club Bayern Munich. His fabulous goal scoring records made him one of the best strikers in the world and also helped his team, Bayern Munich and his country, be deadly competitors in the world.
During his time as a football player, he managed to win four Bundesliga titles, four German Cups and a Cup Winners’ Cup. He also won three consecutive European Cups with his club, Bayern Munich. The German legend bagged him 582 goals in only 669 games that he played during his club career. At international level, the goal scoring record was even better. With only 62 appearances with his country, he managed to score 68 goals. The appearances with the German team included the success in the 1972 European Championship and also the World Cup trophy of the 1974 FIFA World Cup.
However, such awards don’t really highlight the fact about how the people treated him as an individual player. Individually he was awarded with a Ballon d’Or in 1970. In 2000, he was named as Football’s greatest goal scorer of all time. In 2006, it was the Brazilian player Ronaldo who overtook him in the World Cup’s top goal scoring player, as his tally was 14 and Ronaldo managed to score 15. However, the German player only managed it in 2 world cups, while the Brazilian striker did it in 3.
4. Eusebio (Portugal)
The biggest name in the history of Portuguese football is Eusebio. The way he used to toy with the defensive walls of his opponents was simply magical. He had everything that a perfect striker needs, speed, power, and simply finishing ability. He is definitely a prolific goal scorer!
The time when the Portuguese club Benfica were going through their golden age, it was Eusebio who was their key man and helped them score goals to make history. While playing for the Portuguese club, he helped them win 11 League titles along with 5 Portuguese Cups. Not only that, he managed to win the European Cup twice and even managed to reach the final of the European Cup for three times.
For the Portuguese side, he scored 41 times in only 64 appearances but only managed to take him to the semi finals of the 1966 FIFA World Cup. However, at the end of his career he bagged himself 727 goals in only 715 games, although there are some experts who think that his goal scoring tally reaches above 1100.
