Football Special Report: Top Ten Dutch Players to Come to The English Premier League (Part 1)
It is a well known fact that all the best players in the world go to the English Premier League to play football and they have the best clubs in the world like Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.
There are always a bunch of players from Holland that are found among this league and this attracts huge crowds of Dutch fans to the stands.
One thing that the Dutch have proved time and time again is that they never fall short of amazing talent, and they make every club that they join shine bright.
Here is a list of the top ten Dutch players that have graced the English Premier league.
Dirk Kuyt
The thirty year old Dirk Kuyt has proved to be a jack of all trades, throughout his career he has excelled in almost every role that he can improve in and has raised the standards for others when it comes to netting the ball.
He joined Liverpool in 2006, leaving his former club Feyenoord and since then, he has made two hundred and four appearances and scored fifty two goals. He has been a very consistent player and has practically become a permanent member of the first team for ‘The Reds’ as he plays in almost every match.
Kuyt is famous for being a goal scorer, a chance creator and a very hard working forward. Kuyt is in a position to finish a memorable career with Liverpool, as one of their greatest players and can become the image that others inspire to when coming to Anfield.
Another interesting factor about our Dutchman is that he has the chance of going down in the club’s history as the player with the most mispronounced and intriguing last names ever.
Rafael van der Vaart
Rafael van der Vaart has been scheduled to make his first appearance in the Premier League as soon as he got signed to Tottenham Hotspurs in the last two hours of the transfer window.
It was rumoured that there was an eighteen million pound deal in the works for the player with Bayern Munich and it went downhill a day before the transfer windows were about to close.
Harry Redknapp heard the news and contacted Real Madrid instantly and struck an eight million deal for the player and due the final transaction took place in the last two hours before the transfer window got closed.
It has been reported that the player has completed his move from Real Madrid to Tottenham Hotspurs.
Rafael van der Vaart had very good spells at Hamburg and Ajax and the time featured a lot of goal scoring, but then the player did fall below the radar for a while during his time with the Spanish giants.
The collective moves of numerous talents to Real Madrid did slow Van der Vaart down, as the new transfers saw the likes of Bernabéu, Sami Khedira and Ángel di Maria.
These moves cut down Van Der Vaart’s play time down to a very minimum in the club and the twenty seven year old was left struggling for a better role in the first team and desperately trying to get more play time.
Still Rafael van der Vaart has a lot of prime years left ahead of him and his abilities on the pitch have only improved with time. With such a huge fan base, he is thought of building up a lot of support in the Premiership.
The Dutch player is highly anticipated at White Hart Lane, and with having three hundred and twenty seven appearances in professional football, and a hundred and twenty goals scored there are high hopes for him.
However, the player does not have any experience in the English style of play, he is hoped to get a first team position and Tottenham Hotspurs seem to have an early impact on the UEFA Champions league this year.
