He quickly proved himself to be a worthy investment, as he scored sixteen goals in his first season playing with the Blues and gave Chelsea their first English Premier League win after fifty years.
After another two years, he won the Golden Boot award for his twenty league goals netted that season and almost took Chelsea to their Champions League win.
He scored two goals against Liverpool which was the Champions League semi-finals and this match ultimately gave them a two to three defeat.
In the Finals match, Didier Drogba suffered a low time in his career when he slapped Manchester United’s defender Nemanja Vidic on the playing field and then the match went onto penalty shots which saw the Blues lose after John Terry’s miss.
In their last season, Didier Drogba showcased his best form when he netted an astounding twenty nine goals in that season.
This season he has scored six goals and this includes a hat-trick on the first day of the season against West Bromwich Albion. Interestingly he also scored a hat-trick in the last match of last season.
Drogba has netted ninety goals from a hundred and seventy three league matches and he is a player that forces his influence on the pitch.
He causes numerous hassles for his opponents, he is a powerful player and knows just how to handle and pivot the ball into his own advantage.
He is thirty two years old and far above the normal average age of excellence on the field but he is still at it and only getting better and that makes him the best striker in the English Premier League.
