Football Special Report: Walcott will be the next Henry- Arsene Wenger
Without a doubt Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is a top class manager, and over the years, he has been known for his quality of unearthing young talent. In recent history, we have witnessed many gems (players) which Wenger unearthed and they have served football quite well. The legendary manager of Arsenal has a pivotal role in transmuting raw young players into stunning top-class footballers.
Thierry Henry’s is one of those players who were blessed with a manager like Arsene Wenger. It was the sheer brilliance of ‘The Professor’ which transformer Thierry Henry to a world-class striker. When Arsene Wenger was uncharged of French side, AS Monaco, Thierry Henry was a part of his youth team.
Arsene Wenger used his young French player as a winger because of his great speed, which was a remarkable move from the Wenger as the young boy started to shine in French Ligue 1. Later on, when Arsene Wenger was signed by Arsenal, Henry also departed and started playing for Italian giants Juventus.
Nonetheless, Henry failed to impress in Serie A and looked out of place in Juventus. Arsene Wenger was quick to acquire the service of his former player and signed Henry for Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger played Thierry Henry as a centre forward rather than winger, which later proved to be an excellent decision by ‘The Professor’. At start, Henry struggled in that centre forward role and failed to find goal on regular basis in the first few matches.
However, Thierry Henry’s capability and Arsene Wenger’s faith in his young starlet, made Henry adjust to the role, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Henry’s ability, speed, and skill proved to be outlandish for even the best centre halves and that is why he is currently Arsenal’s highest goal scorer with 226 goals to his name in only 369 appearances.
Fast forward to the present, there is another player like Henry in the Arsenal squad, he has seen numerous ups and downs in his career, but is gradually, but assuredly, on the way to realising his massive potential.
The Englishman has been admired greatly for his talent, and also criticised hugely for the dearth of it by the same media, who just does not want to give him any room for error.
But, on the other hand, there is this legendary manager of Arsenal who has always shown his faith in Theo Walcott and believes that he will be a top-class player in the future. Just like Henry, Walcott possess remarkable pace and under ‘The Professor’, Walcott will only continue to flourish.
However, the young English winger has sustained many niggling injuries over the time, which has hampered his growth. Walcott’s pace is his utmost strength; there is hardly a defender in the world, which could stop him.
In this season, Walcott has looked composed in front of goal, and he has scored six goals in this season along with a stunning hat trick against Blackpool. The young English sensation has shown great self-effacement and enthusiasm to learn, and ‘The Professor’ will help the youngster grasp his enormous potential.
To emulate Henry, who is probably the greatest forward to have ever played for Arsenal, Walcott has to do something extraordinary because it is never easy to replace a legend.
However, Theo has shown that he has immense potential and under ‘The Professor’, it is not hard to fathom Theo growing into a top class winger in the future.
