Football Special Report:The Most Worthy of Nominees of the Ballon D’Or Award (Part 1)
In the 2009-10 season there was little doubt that the European Player of the Year award was going to Lionel Messi, as it was almost undisputed. Before that, the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo had one of his greatest seasons, while playing with the Red Devils
and he had the honour of getting one of the most prestigious awards in modern football.
Now the 2010 season is going at an amazing pace and the Golden ball award is up for grabs again.
Crisitiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are both worthy candidates of the award but this year it seems that it may go to someone else as some of the other nominees have actually outperformed them and have been giving exemplary performances in both their club
matches and on International duty.
Xavi Hernandez
This is the thirty year old Spaniard that plays for Barcelona FC and has the midfielder position in his squad. He has been nominated for the Ballon D’or award and finished third in the running in the 2009 season.
He is believed to be one of the most crafty and talented midfielders in the world. Right now Xavi is the player that stands out the most among other nominees to win this award for the 2010 season.
This player has been nothing short of amazing this season and it is about time that he gets recognized for that and he gets this award for all his amazing performances of the football field every week in and out.
Last year Xavi actually won the La Liga title; he won the World Cup for Spain and was one of the leading players in the squad. He was also part of the championship team that won the Euro 2008.
He was Man of the Match for two fixtures in the World Cup in South Africa this summer; he showcased world class footballing and was also named in the World Cup All Star team.
He plays with vision, creativity, epic passing skills, and with the ability to get out of sticky situations whenever he wants to with amazing ease.
Before he finished behind the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and the Argentinean Lionel Messi but this year just could be the one where the Spanish take this award home.
Andries Iniesta
Then comes Andries Iniesta, he is the twenty six year old Spaniard from Barcelona FC as well and plays as a midfielder.
He has never been nominated for the prestigious Ballon D’or Award before either and this has motivated even further as he wants nothing more than to take this honour home with him.
