Football Special: Wenger in for double Italian swoop
Arsenal's manager Arsene Wenger seems to have finally realized that sitting on top of a mountain of gold is of no use if you don't bother spending it on anything. The manager is finally looking to spend some of the clubs hard earned money on bringing in
some much needed positive reinforcements.
The manager is looking to attack the Italian Serie A for a keeper and a defender. The two players that the manager has in his mind are none other than Lazio's goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and Juventus' star centre back Giorgio Chiellini. The manager has finally
realized that the team's weakest links are in the back, and he is looking to weld those weak links shut once and for all, so that the team can actually lift some silverware at the end of the season.
Muslera, who is also the Uruguayan international keeper, had a wonderful run in at the FIFA World Cup 2010 and due to those performances the keeper has been linked to countless teams, with Arsenal obviously being the latest addition to those names. The 24-year-old
is more than just a decent keeper, he had great reflexes and tends to actually use his brain when goalkeeping, which is something that cannot be said about the keepers that are currently employed by Arsenal. On paper he looks to be an ideal addition to the
Arsenal squad, to take over as the number one at the club, however things that look good on paper don't always turn out that way, which is why it might be a risk bringing the new keeper into the club, nonetheless it is a risk that Wenger needs to take sooner
rather than later considering his current keepers are as good as sitting ducks in between the posts.
On the other hand, the Italian international Chiellini has proven that he is as good as any defender out there and can make countless match winning tackles when asked to, which is just what Arsenal need to strengthen their back line, Chiellini with his height
advantage could also prove to be an aerial threat for the team at the back.
With both the players currently being in their mid twenties, they are sure to offer the club at least other five or six seasons, which make them excellent future prospects for the club as well as bringing out tremendous impacts on the club in the short run.
