Football: Thierry Henry’s legacy
In the history of football there have been a few who have been forgotten but there is a name that almost all the football fans might remember and that name is, Thierry Henry.
We all remember how amazing he was at the English club, Arsenal, from where he started to take his amazing form. Henry became famous as he scored marvellous goals alongside Cambell and Bergkamp. The team had an "undefeated" season at Arsenal as they won the English league. Even though they were called the "invincibles", they still did not manage to win the ultimate prize, Champion's League.
The final match was between Barcelona and Arsenal and everyone still remembers how it ended. Barcelona being victorious as Arsenal was a man down and did not manage to take the title home.
Thierry Henry soon got transferred to the Spanish side as he took leave from the Gunners. He took an amazing start at Camp Nou as he was supposed to play as a left winger, reminding him of his early days when he was a left midfielder.
Henry, now, is leaving the Spanish club as well as he sets out for the American club called "New York Red Bulls". He will now continue his career in America as he is going to be welcomed to America. About the fact that he is going to leave Europe and Barcelona; he said, "This is a new and exciting chapter in my career".
As he is leaving the club which is known to be the "Catalan Giants, he thanked everyone and gave a speech which included a lot of things that the fans wanted to know. The headlines read, "To wear the Barca shirt has been incredible".
He admitted that his time in Camp Nou was amazing and he gave a little reflection of the three seasons that he played in. The French striker was given a free transfer by Barcelona and he has helped the club win every major trophy.
He sent his honours to the coaches that were with him during his time in Barca, as he said that Pep and Rijkaard, both, are amazing. He added on to his talks and said that the club is more than just a club. To add on to his career, the reporters asked him about his favourite moment in the club. He said that he had never won a Champion's League trophy in his former club, Arsenal and he loved it when he actually held it during his time in Barca. He said that the best thing that ever happened to him was "Rome 2009", when Barcelona won the Champion's League final against Manchester United and were crowned Champions. He even praised Barcelona's unique style of football. He said that they possess the ball with immense control and the boys playing for the team have great talent and they will go far in their career.
Even though his World Cup outing was disappointing, as the French side was out in the group stages, he still showed great sportsman spirit by congratulating his Spanish friends who played for Barcelona and said that they are an amazing team and they deserved to win.
Thierry Henry is going to wear his traditional number 14 jersey in the New York Red Bulls and will be joining them in their first match against the English Premier League giants, Tottenham Hotspurs on 22nd July 2010 in the Red Bull Arena.
Thierry Henry has accomplished everything in his life and it's now high time that he is going to retire from his luxurious career that is filled with trophies. He was able to help Barcelona win 6 trophies in the amazing run they had in 2009 and he even had his hands on the FIFA World Cup, back in 1998. Thierry Henry will be remembered in the eyes of Barca and Arsenal fans, as a legend and as an amazing striker.
