Football: Top Five English Premier League hopefuls
The World Cup is just about done and some star performances by some star players have seen their stocks rise in the transfer market. With the like of the English Premier League there is no shortage of suitors for these players.
Here is a list of top five players that are more than likely to be playing in the Premier League next season.
Eduardo – Goal Keeper – Braga and Portugal
When Manuel Almunia is your teams first choice goalie, even the signing of 37 year old Mark Schwarzer from Fulham is guaranteed to spark a street party in North London for Arsenal fans. But after watching the Portuguese goalie thwart everything that David Villa and co had to throw at him Arsenal fans must be very pleased to see their club interested in the Portuguese national goal keeper. But with offers flying in from left, right and centre Arsene Wenger must react quickly.
Gregory Van Der Wiel – Right back – Ajax and Netherlands
The Ajax wing back is lightening fast and sensational going forward especially playing behind Arjen Robben who prefers to cut inside. The dynamic Dutchman has had a fantastic season with Ajax and was also named the young player of the year this year. Arsenal and Manchester City have been heavily linked with the player while United have also expressed interest in the player who is expected to leave the Dutch Eredivisie after a breakthrough season.
Yasuhito Endo – Central Midfielder – Gamba Osaka and Japan
With almost a ton of caps for his national side, World Cup footballers don’t come much more experienced than Endo. The all action midfielder is a box to box player and at the age of 30 he is more than willing to move out of his native country before hanging up his boots. With interest from Liverpool and a price tag of just 5 million pounds the move seems beneficial for both the club and the player. His free kick against Denmark in the World cup also suggested that he has as much finesse as power and he is also Roy Hodgson’s kind of a player with all effort and discipline with a touch of something special.
Mesut Ozil – Central Attacking Midfielder – Werder Bremen and Germany
Ozil was almost unknown just about a year ago but after this summer’s World Cup he is one of the hottest commodities in world football. The Midfielder maestro has just 12 months remaining on his contract with Bremen and he is looking for greener pastures. Chelsea and Manchester United both are big admirers of the player but with United’s staggering lack of an attacking midfielder in their ranks and the players’ likeness for the Premier League, he is certainly bound for the Premier League.
But all his suitors can be sure that Bremen won’t let go of their star attraction for cheap and have already slapped a price tag of 20 million on the player.
Miroslav Klose – Striker – Bayern Munich and Germany
In the presence of Ivica Olic, Thomas Meuller and Mario Gomez, he was deemed surplus to requirements at the Allaianz arena last year but after his goal glut at the World Cup the striker has rewritten his fortunes and is now in line for a move to the Premier League. The striker is sheer class and can surpass Ronaldo of Brazil as the all time leading goal scorers at the world cup in the 3rd place play off at the World Cup against Uruguay on Saturday.
The striker has so far scored 14 goals in World Cup competitions and needs only one more to go past Ronaldo after having already surpassed the legendary Pele. West Ham have already tried to lure the player to Upton Park and failed but any club that can offer handsome wages can be sure of landing a striker that guarantees them goals in double figures.
