Football Transfer Gossip Update, 17th November
Celtic eye Nottingham Forest player Kelvin Wilson
Reports reveal that Celtic are lining up a move for Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson in the upcoming January transfer window. Celtic already made an offer of £1.5 million for the player which was rejected in summer, but they are
determined to up their bid and make another attempt in the January transfer window.
Wilson will be eager to leave the Championship side; the 25-year-old has shown great potential and skill. He is a versatile defender, who has the ability to play at centre half and full back and will fit in well with the Glasgow side.
Liverpool scout reveals interest in defender Oscar Wendt
Jakob Friis Hansen, Liverpool’s Scandinavian scout recently revealed that the club is interested in Oscar Wendt, FC Copenhagen’s left back. The 25-year-old has been with the club since 2006 but made it clear that he wished to leave once
his contract expired at the end of this season.
He has an impressive record with the national team, being called to play left back for Sweden regularly. He also added Champions League experience to his already impressive list of achievements, there is no wonder top European sides like
Roma and Tottenham are on the lookout for this young defender.
Friis Hansen admitted the Reds were keeping an eye on the player, he said, “We are keeping a good eye on Oscar…Oscar Wendt does a great job, but he must play at a high level every week. In Denmark there are just a few high-quality games.”
The Liverpool scout also revealed that Roy Hodgson’s side were also observing Behrang Safari, the FC Basel left back. Ever since Paul Konchesky hinted that he might be leaving Liverpool, Hodgson has begun a search for a suitable left back
who could take over on the left flank at Anfield.
Wendt seems like the best candidate, he is not only strong at the back but is excellent in going forward and provides dangerous crosses. He can be compared to Chelsea’s Ashley Cole, who (minus this weekend’s performance) is one of the
best left back’s in the world.
