Football Transfer News: PSV full back Stanislav Manolev catches eyes of AC Milan
The latest from the world of football is that the PSV defender Stanislav Manolev has caught the eye of the Italian giants AC Milan.
Media reports have confirmed this as a fact and officials from the club have also hinted of progress and interest in the club’s meetings.
The Bulgarian defender Stanislav Manolev, who has recently been in outstanding form after attracting interest from the Red and Blacks has caused an uproar in Serie A as their main rivals, their sister club from San Siro Inter Milan have
been on a downfall recently.
They under the guidance of Rafael Benitez; who has arrived to club being sacked from Liverpool is seeing troubled times. The club which was once managed by the ‘Chosen One’, Jose Mourinho is constantly under threat of losing the Serie
A title, however all cannot be blamed on Rafa as there are many key players from Nerazzurri who are injured at the moment.
PSV at the moment are on top of the Eredivisie table. With the full back’s switch to the Italian League the void at AC Milan’s defence will be filled resulting in better performance this season.
Presently Rossoneri’s right back Iganzio Abate is falling out favour and fast; the reason behind that is his lack of performance on field. Reports have leaked that the manager is unhappy and unsatisfied with what he is getting from the
defender and therefore wants to add some fresh blood in his defence department in the approaching winter transfer window.
Earlier AC Milan were rumoured to be signing a defender from the Dutch club Ajax. Later it was revealed that Dutchman and national team’s player Gregory van der Wiel was on their want list.
However the negotiations reached a deadlock as the player was far too expensive for the Italian outfit. Hence the club worked a Plan B out and now the manager of AC Milan Massimiliano Allegri has stated Manolev as the suitable replacement
for the Dutchman.
The 24-year-old player might be an alternative choice for the Italian club but if he is properly trained; in a course of 1 to 2 years the young man can blossom out to be a new world class player on field.
Manolev was signed in PSV during the summer of 2009. He was then playing at Litex Lovech but his good fortune and hard work lead him to become an important player in the team and soon he was recognized among the best players in the Dutch
league.
Reports have revealed that a scout from Milan witnessed Manolev play in the 4-0 match Bulgaria versus England during the qualification stage of Euro 2012. Though Bulgaria was defeated in the match, the performance by the defender impressed the scout therefore
he reported back to his superiors.
At the moment Manolev has a binding contract with PSV till the 2012 summers but it is rumoured that if PSV are offered around 5 to 6 million Euros for the player they will be tempted to cash him in.
