Football Transfer Rumours: Liverpool want cash for Masch, while they make bid for West Ham’s Carlton Cole
Liverpool have reportedly told Barcelona that they want eighteen million pounds in cash for their Argentinean midfielder Javier Mascherano by the end of the week if they wish for the deal to go through. This is so that some money can be made available to Roy Hodgson to reinvest in the team before the close of the transfer window.
The deal sounds more than reasonable to most experts, considering the Spanish team managed to get a whopping twenty five million pounds for Yaya Toure earlier this summer.
The reason for Mascherano being available at such a cut short price is due to the fact that the player has refused to play with the team in the near future. He is also not going to be a part of the team that is flying to Turkey to participate in their Europa League qualifier.
If Mascherano does decide to leave, Hodgson will be looking to buy PSV striker Ola Toivonen. According to the Daily Mirror, '(If) Mascherano does go, Hodgson would try to buy PSV striker Ola Toivonen and a left back. As such, Liverpool have told Barcelona they will entertain only a straight cash deal for Mascherano.'
Hodgson, however, at the same time is also lining up a shock bid for West Ham’s hit man, Carlton Cole. The manager is willing to offer as much as six million pounds to the striker.
Apparently West Ham have been surprised by the bid for the player which is supposed to consist of an initial six million pound payment for the player, followed by another six million based on appearances with the team.
Sounding very sure about their story, the paper describes the Hammers as being 'surprised' by the bid - which is £6m 'in one payment for Cole and odd up to another £6 million after games and achievements in the odd package.'
According to the Daily Mirror, 'West Ham have already turned down bigger deals from Stoke and warned them off, but they may reluctantly let Cole go before the window shuts to give Avram Grant cash for other players.
'In Liverpool's favour as the talks over figures begin Cole will be interested in joining them rather than the Potters - or potential rivals Sunderland.'
Manchester City outcast Robinho has turned down a move to go to Turkey with Besiktas or Fenerbahce. The player has also made it clear that he is only going to be willing to play in either Italy or Spain.
According to the player, "With all due respect to Turkish football, I'm not going to play there right now.
"Fenerbahce have sent me an official proposal, but I already decided that I will not take it up. There are other conversations going on and a week gives me a lot of time yet. The only thing I can say for certain is that I will continue in Europe, either in Italy or Spain."
The player is looking to move to a team which is better reputed so that he might have a better chance of participating in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which is why it is believed that the player would most probably end up at either AC Milan or Barcelona.
Chelsea are rumoured to be weighing up a move for South Korean Park Chu-Young. According to The Sun, 'The Monaco striker's representatives met with Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti, sporting director Frank Arnesen and chief executive Ron Gourlay before their opening-day 6-0 win against West Brom.'
The deal will progress in the coming week but will have to be sped up if both the teams and the player wish for the deal to go through this transfer window.
