Football Update: Recent England Premier League Transfers 2010, Manchester City, Chelsea & Sunderland

Every year, the premier league opens its transfer window on 1st July. The premier league has a habit of employing more foreign players than any other league. Here’s a roundup of the confirmed transfers of the premier league:

Yaya Toure joins Manchester City:
Manchester City officially signed Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure, on a five year deal. Ivory Coast crashed out of the World Cup after failing to win from heavy weights Brazil and Portugal. They were drawn up in the so-called Group of Death, the toughest group of them all. Toure scored the opening goal for his side against Korea DPR, when his team won 3-0. It was however not enough to book a place into the quarter finals.

Toure has been successful in his three years with Spanish giants Barcelona. He was part of the squad when Barcelona won a sextuple of trophies in 2009, including the Champions league. He also won the league title in 2010 season. He is now all set to join Manchester City and team up with his elder brother Kolo Toure. Roberto Mancini is excited about signing Yaya and considers him to be a fantastic player. Mancini expects Yaya to bring his ability and experience he has gained while playing with the Catalan Giants at the highest level. He will join Manchester city on the pre-season tour to USA. The 28 year old is one of the very best midfielders in the business, and was a regular in the starting XI for Barcelona. City would expect to use his talent and skill to perhaps capture a Champions League spot and challenge for the Premier league title. Manchester City have already signed Boateng and David Silva and this is their third signing. They have already spent approximately 60 million in signing these three players.

Chelsea captures Yossi Benayoun:
Benayoun has been a huge target for Chelsea, and finally joined them on a three year deal. The 30 year old Israel international was excited to join the Blues, and considered it to be a dream for every player. Chelsea’s Coach Carlo Ancelotti expects Benayoun to help Chelsea to retain the English title, as well as help secure Chelsea’s first champions league. He was happy with the signing, and praised Benayoun’s quality in midfield as well as the ability to play anywhere in midfield. Benayoun first arrived in the premier league when he joined West Ham United. He was impressive with the hammers, and caught the eye of Liverpool, he signed him in 2006. He has scored 37 goals in 172 appearances for the Reds. His most important goal was when he scored against Real Madrid, when Liverpool won 1-0 in the last 16 in 2008/09 season. Liverpool FC wished the 30 year old best of luck with his career.

Sunderland recruits Al-Muhammadi:
Sunderland agreed to sign Al-Muhammadi on a season long loan from ENPPI. They have a chance to sign the Egyptian at the end of the loan deal. He is a player of immense quality and can play as a right back in defence or as a right midfielder. He played the whole match against England, and was impressive when Eygpt lost 3-1 to England. Al Muhammadi was happy to join Sunderland and is restless to play for his new club. He added that it was like a dream come true for him to join the premier league, and considered it to be the best league on the planet. He explained that he was excited to play against the best players of the World, and vowed to prove his quality and talent against them. He praised Steve Bruce to be one of the best managers, and said that he consulted both Amr Zaki and Mido before joining the club. He stated that he followed most games of Sunderland, and was a great admirer of the manager and the club.
