Football Transfer Update: Arsene Wenger’s new signings for Arsenal
Rumours are that Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal Manager is trying to bring in Emir Spahic, who is twenty nine years old and is probably on the top of the list for Arsenals defensives reinforcements.
Arsene Wenger is trying to get new people to strengthen his defence right now as three of his players left, which include William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikaerl Silvestre. They all went this summer and so a lot of people are calling it the Arsenal defensive crisis.
Till now the manager has added one guy to the defence and that is Laurent Koscielny, he is twenty four years old but the problem is that won’t do much alone and Wegner needs to add more experienced shields to his nets.
Wenger was trying to strike a deal with Phil Jagielka but in the end, he could not afford that and it did not go. Now he has his eyes set on the Bosnian captain and this may be a good addition to weak defence.
Another likely option is Spahic, who is twenty nine years old and but the club fans believe that he is way too old to be considered for the option, even though he is six feet tall and good in the air and in tackles. This is a good combo that if applied properly could make him a good asset to the team.
Spahić even has good control over the ball, also can fill in as a left back when required and can provide a wide range of back cover. With his dazzling performances in the Cup playoffs for Bosnia, he has overwhelmed Wenger and caught the eyes of a lot of people but still the fans of the club feel that he is not a good choice for them.
Wenger is also on the lookout for players, like Gary Cahill, Spahićwill or Per Mertesacker that would cost much less than the other targets that were thought of for Wenger, in the range of around seven million dollars.
Still it is doubtful that Wenger will go for such a high priced transfer, as he is definitely not cash strapped; the high possibilities are on signing the Bosnian star this summer.
Another new addition that has been confirmed is Marouane Chamakh and he is not fazed when he is compared with Emmanuel Adebayor, the Manchester City striker and he is confident that he will prove himself a success.
The twenty six year old free transfer, Chamakh has scored seventy nice goals in a total of two hundred and ninety three appearances, while playing for Bordeaux. He has enjoyed a good start with the team and has player with a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan.
The Arsenal manager commented on him by saying that he is going to become a fruitful striker like Adebayor, who left Arsenal and he is going to use his height of six feet and two inches to his advantage in this matter.
Chamakh was born in France but choose to play for Morocco because of his parentage. He joined Arsenal on 21st May and made his debut in a friendly against Barnet FC coming in as a substitute.
Chamakh said that he and Adebayor have a slightly similar playing profile when comparing his height because of his play in the air and this is why playing in England would be a great option for him.
He continued on the matter by saying that his favourite position is up front with other strikers and his correlation with them in this matter is going to be very helpful for the team.
