Football Transfer Update: Bid for Steven Pienaar accepted by Everton
Merseyside club Everton have accepted an offer for midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208 but the club name is still unknown.
Toffees manager David Moyes has now given Pienaar the permission to have personal negotiations with the unnamed club and the South African is now all set to leave the club.
Recently, rumours linked the 28 year old midfielder to a move to Premier league Champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, but nothing solid came out. Nothing more has been revealed but it seems that a “major European club” has signed a pre-contract with the club and only the personal
terms have to be agreed.
While talking to the press, the manager didn’t reveal as to who signed the player but has confirmed that the South African would not be playing for Everton any more.
"We have had two offers and one of those offers has been accepted. We have allowed his representatives to speak to the other club, but whether it goes through or not I don't know yet," stated the Everton boss.
Pienaar, who arrived at Everton in 2007, has made a mega impact in his 3 years, having won the Everton player of the season last year.  Everton wanted nothing more but to keep the 28 year old at the club, but Pienaar rejected the contract offered to him.
Rather than letting him go on a free transfer by the end of the season, Everton have accepted an offer and it would be up to Pienaar and the club to discuss the remaining terms.
On the question of whether Pienaar himself wants to move on, the manager replied that the player’s wishes were evident when he rejected contract offered to him. Moyes, however, still praised the player’s impact on the pitch and had no complaints from him
in his 3 years at the club.
With the money gained from this transfer, Moyes can bring in fresh blood to change the course of his otherwise disappointing season. With striker Ayegbeni Yakubu also out of the club owing to a loan plus transfer deal, Moyes needs to bring in new players
to turn the season around and then rebuild his team in the summer.
