Football Transfer Update: Dembele’s In and Dempsey’s out
Moussa Dembele, the twenty three year old Belgian striker has signed a three year contract with Fulham. This deal was made after Alkmaar Zaanstreek settled on a six and a half million Euro deal for the transfer.
Alkmaar Zaanstreek is Demble’s former club, and is located in Alkmaar, Netherlands. They play in the highest Dutch football league called Eredivisie.
This move of signing Dembele was made by Mark Hughes, and by doing this, the Fulham manager made the exclusion of Clint Dempsey more prominent. Dempsey is an American International football player playing for Fulham since 2007 and Hughes omitting Dempsey further strengthened the rumours about his transfer.
Moussa Dembele plays in a special way in which, he creates more goals than he scores. Dembele plays the same role as Dempsey in Fulham. In addition, one thing is clear that Dembele is not going to be a replacement for Gera or Zamora and that only leaves out Dempsey.
Therefore, when Dembele comes he is going to bench someone from the current team and this looks like Dempsey.
Dembele has been a part of the Belgian national team since 2006, also participated in the 2008 summer Olympics and he played in all six of the Belgian Olympic Games.
Gera has commented in an interview that he is not Liverpool bound forever. It is believed that Roque Santa Cruz is expected to be linked to Fulham as he is in surplus with Manchester City.
Without having any European fixtures, Mark Hughes is left with numerous options upfront. If Hughes adds, Roque Santa Cruz then that would be the end of Dempsey’s transfer rumour to Fulham.
Moussa Dembele started twenty eight games for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch team’s endeavours last season.
Dembele scored four goals in the tournament; he also created another two goals. During this process, the player also received three yellow cards. This does speak about the player’s physical style of playing the game.
He was also a part of the Dutch Cup during the 2008-09 seasons. In an overview, Demble has scored eighteen goals in a total of forty appearances. This includes all competitions, even seven international goals made in a total of fifteen appearances.
Moussa Dembele has been reported to have a top class pace and till now has thrived under Louis van Gaal, who is the currently the Bayern Munich’s manager.
Dembele crossed all barriers working with Louis van Gaal’s hard lined attacking system, though Mark Hughes has never been noted for his attacking statistics. The question being raised right now is that will Hughes be able to bring out the best in Dembele like Gaal did.
This signing may become a major threat to the Americans at Fulham. Eddie Johnson is barely considered a top class player for the Premiership, whereas Clint Dempsey is a proven hero in the world of football.
Dempsey, who is actually nicknamed ‘Deuce,’ is twenty seven year old and is the second American to have scored two goals in two difference World Cups. He has played both in the 2006 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
He can be played as a striker or even a winger and is one of Fulham’s favourite players and also he is the club’s longest tenured player.
Right now looking at the European match fixtures list and the club, there does not seem to be space left for Dempsey. With Dembele on his way and the chances of Gera and Zamora staying with the team, the odds are against Dempsey.
It is still not known where Dempsey’s future is, though it is rumoured that his former boss Roy Hodgson is going to come for him and recruit him to make him a part of Liverpool.
