Football Transfer Update: Eden Hazard welcomes a move to Arsenal or Liverpool
Belgian footballing star Eden Hazard has again reiterated his interest of joining Liverpool or Arsenal during the summer. French club Lille’s winger has reportedly already rejected an offer by Premier League champions Chelsea.
On him being linked to Chelsea last June Hazard said, “I could have gone last June, but I was not ready to make that big leap. Recently, the press have been writing about interest from Liverpool, and it is nice to hear your name being mentioned everywhere,
especially with the best teams in the world.”
Earlier this season the 19-year-old had expressed his desire to play for the Spanish giants Real Madrid. He has now insisted that a move Madrid might not be feasible for him. “If I do leave at the end of the season, I don't want to go somewhere I will be
on the bench, and it will be difficult to break through in a team like Real, where Ronaldo and Kaka will be my competitors.”
The Belgian spoke of his interest in Madrid after he received praise from football legend Zinedine Zidane. Talking about Hazard, the French maestro said, “He is a star of the future. He is strong technically and very fast. I would take him to Madrid
without a second's thought." Zidane is currently working as a special adviser to Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Hazard has insisted he will not abandon Lille to join another French club. He believes his performance over the years for Lille has confirmed he is a quality player and he now wants to move on to face greater challenges.
Liverpool will surely be more than willing to see Hazard join their ranks. The Reds have had a less than ordinary league season so far and stand on the 9th spot with just six wins in seventeen games. Arsenal will be the favourites to capture Hazard’s
signature if he becomes available. Hazard praised The Gunners saying, “There are teams like Arsenal, where youngsters can grow more easily into the first team and make their mark.”
Manchester United have not shown any true desire to sign the winger, but given Alex Ferguson’s knack of spotting talent, it is inevitable that United will eventually join the race to sign Eden Hazard.
