Football Transfer Update: Premier League Transfer rumours for Thursday 26th August
The transfer window is almost coming to a close and most the clubs are done with the purchases of the summer but there still are some who are still out in the market in search of some bargain deals.
Inter Milan are hot on the heels of Liverpool’ midfield ace Javier Mascherano and have also made an official bid to the club for a fee believed to be in the region of 20 million pounds. Meanwhile, Barcelona are also interested in the services of the Argentinean skipper. Coach Roy Hodgson only two days ago gave a deadline of coming Monday to the Catalan club to make a final bid in excess of 18 million pounds for the midfielder or forever rest in peace.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have renewed their interest in the 18 year old Brazilian hotshot Neymar, only a week after the teenager signed a 5 year contract extension with his club. Chelsea had been chasing the teen prodigy for quite a while and despite being tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge, Neymar was persuaded by his agent Ribiero, that staying with Santos is the best move for the growth of his career. Just last week, he signed a long 5 year contract with Santos but in the daily telegraph in Britain has reported this morning that Chelsea have renewed their interest in the star man and are willing to splash out some cash too.
Meanwhile one player who has turned down an offer to join the London Blues is Martin Demichelis of Bayern Munich. Demichelis was instrumental in guiding Bayern to the final of the Champions League last season but they lost to Jose Mourinho’s Inter in the final but nonetheless the stocks of Bayern players had risen sharply after last year’s Champions League. With Martin being a pivot in Bayern’s mean defence last season, Chelsea are seeing him as a perfect replacement for Ricardo Carvallho, who left the Stamford Bridge earlier in the week to join his former coach Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.
In some other transfer news, Manchester City are looking to recover some of the 124 million pounds that they have spent on player transfers this season by offloading Brazilian Robinho. The Brazilian has already denied a move to Turkish side Fenerbache but City are hopeful that they will be able to find a suitable club for the talented attacking player before the close of the transfer window on August the 31st.
Meanwhile, since making a promising start in the Premier League, Fulham are also looking to bolster their squad in order to strengthen their position in the league and also for mounting a substantial challenge for continental honours.
The Cottagers are trying to bring Mexico’s world cup defender Carlos Salcido to Craven Cottage and are very close to agreeing a 2.5 million deal for the defender form Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are still looking to do their tid bits in the market, as they now have turned their attention to Fulham’s left back Paul Konshesky. Liverpool are short of a left sided full back in their team, as they had to resign Fabio Aurelio only after releasing him months ago to have a solid left sided defender in their squad.
Roy Hodgson was hoping that he would have money to buy in the transfer market, that’s why Aurelio was released but due to paucity of funds, Aurelio was resigned by the club and now Hodgson is looking for cheap backups.
Manchester United midfielder, Tom Cleverly is in high demand these days after an impressive pre season with Man United. The midfielder scored 6 goals from 6 matches on the pre season tour and now Bolton manager Owen Coyle is trying to take the midfielder on a loan deal to the Reebok Stadium.
