Football Transfer Update: Ryan Giggs says United do not need a big name signing
Manchester United’s most experienced player Ryan Giggs believes that his team does not need any big name signing to challenge for the title. Giggs said that the squad they have at old Trafford right now has enough potential in it to once again to take back the title from Chelsea.
The transfer window has not seen too much activity from the Red Devils this season; the only two signings so far have been Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling. Giggs insisted that this is good enough and they do not need any more reinforcements.
Meanwhile, current champions Chelsea has been splashing the cash to some degree and making some signings, and City rivals to United have once again gone and showed the green lure in big names. These things surely have caused the fans to get a bit worried, but Giggs has assured one and all that United have all they need and there is nothing to worry about. A player of the stature of Ryan, when says things like that,  the fans do listen, and Sir Alex Ferguson the United manager would be happy to have his most senior man have his back on these issues.
Giggs said a club like Manchester United does not need to go out and buy a player just prove to the world that they have the cash to spend. He added that there are good amount of funds available for Ferguson and he will use them if needed. The former Wales captain said that Manchester United for most part has not fed on big name signings and has concentrated more on growing players instead. He added that he was part of a generation that came up through the academy and has been getting the results for almost two decades.
The left winger pointed towards the example of Cristiano Ronaldo, and said that the club only signed him for 12 million pounds when no one knew who he was. Moreover, it was only at Old Trafford that he matured into the best player in the world.  Giggs said that a big name never assures trophies but a good culture at a club does. He went on to say that the system Ferguson has put into place over the years, can make good players into great ones, and he has all the confidence in the world that number of players in the squad are good enough to step up to the plate and deliver when needed.
Giggs who was part of what they call the Golden generation said that, there are number of players coming back from injury and would be key in the upcoming season.  He referred to Michal Owen and said that there is a man who has been a proven goal scorer for club and country. He said that he has no doubts Owen will be one of the most important players in the new season. Giggs also paid tribute to his team mate Wayne Rooney; he said that players like Rooney come once in a generation.  Giggs went on to say that Rooney is someone who can motivate the whole team and his hunger to win and determination can rub off on everyone around him. He added that a disappointing world cup is sure to spur him on to do even more for the club, and he has no doubts that Rooney can do even better than the 34 goals he scored last season.
In the end, the Manchester United legend said that, the big names signed by others will take time to settle in. Whereas the team that Ferguson has, is already, a settled one so the upcoming season will see United make a big surge to get the title back.
