Football Transfer Update: Saloma Kalou criticises Manchester City's spending & Harry Redknapp considering to loan in players
English Premier League team Manchester City have been splashing cash all around, and signing players from all across Europe. Many have come out and said that the approach by the Eastlands club will not ensure them any silverware, and there needs to be a thought process behind buying any player. Manchester City during this transfer window have already signed Spain’s world cup winning midfielder David Silva, Barcelona’s championship winning holding midfielder Yahya Toure and Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio. While number of other deals are believed to be in the process, including the signing of Italian striker Mario Balotelli.
The latest man to join the band wagon against Manchester City is Chelsea striker Saloman Kalou.  The African striker has said that the approach of Manchester City is not right.  He said that Chelsea also benefitted by the influx of huge amount of cash, but they actually did win the league and the expenditure was justified.
Kalou said that, signing 10 players every season does not guarantee any team success in the league. He said that City also did the same last season and still it did not help them that much. He added that the recent shopping done by the team would not make them any better in the upcoming season.
The Ivorian striker referred to the big 4 in the league, and said that Manchester City would have to bear in mind that they would have to compete with Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and even Liverpool. The front man said that these teams did not become big overnight and there has been years of hard work behind all of them. Kalou said that Arsenal has not won silverware in years and that is not because they do not have the money to sign big players, but the fact that the league has become more competitive. He said that he has no doubt that Arsene Wenger will surely come back hard in the league in the upcoming season. He went on to say that Manchester United who lost the title to Chelsea last year, are determined to fight tooth and nail to get it back, and Chelsea are aware of the threat they will pose. Therefore, Manchester city still have a long way to go before they can challenge the big teams in the league, let alone winning the league.
Meanwhile Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager has said that he may be considering taking the option of bringing players in on loan to boast his squad.
Former Portsmouth manager is believed to have failed in his efforts to sign Scott Parker from West Ham, for whom he had bid 9 million pounds. Another target of Redknapp was Craig Bellamy from Manchester City but that deal also does not look very strong.
Tottenham will enter the Champions league for the first time in their history, and Redknapp does not want his team to be unprepared.  He said that the option of getting players in on loan may be his best option.
Still Redknapp has said that Bellamy still remains on his radar, and AC Milan striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar is also part of the plans.  Lyon’s Jean Makoun is also believed to be on Tottenham’s shopping list after the deal with Parker broke down.
Harry Redknapp while talking to a British newspaper said that, the transfers that he wanted have not materialized ideally. The option of loans may yet be his best option to get what he wants. He added that he does have few players in mind, and would try his best to bring them to White hart lane before the close of the transfer window.
