Football Update: Ajax want a respectable bid for Suarez
Liverpool continues their pursuit of Ajax hotshot Luis Suarez, as they look to bring in a striker partner for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 who can share some burden up front.
But the talks so far have stalled over the transfer fee as Ajax are reluctant to come down from their asking price of 21 million pounds while Liverpool are not willing to offer more than 13 million pounds.
Liverpool are expected to offer a player as well as part of the deal but Ajax are adamant that they want a transfer fee that should suit them and given the stance of Liverpool it seems that they are finding it hard to conjure up the money.
Only today, Ajax Amsterdam told the Liverpool club to come up with a respectable fee for the Uruguayan striker.
Dutch club Ajax have told Liverpool to come up with a "respectful" offer for their Uruguay striker Luis Suarez.
"We'll have to wait for them to come back with something more respectful. We want to keep him - at least until the end of the season and preferably for the rest of his contract." Said a spokesman for the Dutch Club.
Usually clubs have to pay some premium if they are to buy a player in the January transfer window, Edin Dzeko was the last high profile player recruited to the premier league and the striker cost Manchester City 27 million pounds. Ajax have suggested that
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 might have to do the same if they are to acquire the service of Suarez.
"If you compare the 15m euros [£12.7m] Liverpool want to pay for Suarez with other transfers you can imagine that it's far too low for us, Luis is our top goals corer for the last three years and also the man with by far the most assists as well.”
Furthermore, Luis was one of the big guys for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 in helping them come third in the World Cup in the summer and he still has a contract with them for two-and-a-half years stated the spokesman.
Suarez has expressed his desire to play in the EPL very clearly but so far, the clubs have not been able to agree upon the financials.
Suarez has scored 7 goals in the Dutch Eredevise this season and is considered as one of the best strikers in the country.
"I used to think that English football was not my style," the Uruguayan, who turned 24 on Monday, told the Sunday Times.
"But I saw Carlos Tevez play at Boca and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Corinthians-c38855 and I never imagined that he would play in the Premier League. When I see the way that Tevez plays there I think I can be a big name in England.”
Luis further went on to say that, it's because of the energy, and the spirit they put into the game in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 that he think it's the kind of football that would suit him. He has categorically expressed his desire to play in the EPL.
It was expected that Liverpool will offer the services of want away striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Babel-c31971 to the Dutch club but last night it emerged that the striker has agreed to move to German club Hoffenheim for a cash only deal.
Now Liverpool will either have to up the ante or offer some other player that Ajax like from within their ranks and they only have a week to do so as the transfer window closes on January 31st.
