Football Update: Arsenal Hoping to Get Cesc Fabregas Back Against Manchester United
Arsene Wenger, the manager of Arsenal, has revealed that their captain, Cesc Fabregas might return for the match against Manchester United. The match would be played late on Monday night and the player might be fit to play in the fixture involving the top
two leaders in English Premier League.
Cesc Fabregas is suffering from his usual hamstring problems and is being sidelined in the recent weeks. Although, the Gunners have managed just fine in the absence of their captain but his return might prove to be a great boost to the squad. The Arsenal
captain has gotten a couple of extra days of rest and would go a late fitness test before the Gunners travel to Old Trafford for the most important match in the current month of English Premier League.
Arsene Wenger wrote on the official website that Cesc Fabregas might be back but it would be decided late. The manager told the fans that the improbability was there about the return of their captain and it could not be decided at that moment. Also, the
captain of Arsenal was also hopeful of his return as he showed his enthusiasm about returning against Manchester United. The skipper said that he was undergoing extensive training and he might be available on Monday.
The midfield of Arsenal would play a vital role in deciding the fate of the match against Manchester United. The match is being played at Old Trafford, while Arsenal has shown the best record so far going away from home. The midfield players who would play
an important role on Monday would include Samir Nasri, Andrei Arshavin, Alex Song, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere.
However, even in the presence of such quality players there would be something still missing in Arsenal team. The Gunners need a player in the centre of the park who can control the pace of the game and play the role of a playmaker. Fabregas is the usual
choice of Arsene Wenger to play in the role, while in his absence Samir Nasri and Arshavin were the ones to fill the gap. But, there is no doubt that Arsenal needs their captain to return to the squad because he is the one who really fits in that role. He
can control the tempo of the game according to his own will and he would definitely be missed in an important fixture at Old Trafford.
There are some other things worrying Arsene Wenger at the moment. Thomas Vermaelen is still out and would not be returning before the start of next month. Also, Kieran Gibbs has joined the centre-half on the sidelines after getting his ankle twisted in the
Champions League clash against Partizan Belgrade. Emmanuel Eboue returned in the defence of Arsenal after Gibbs got injured, but he is unlikely to remain in that position. However, Wenger has Johann Djourou available for the match and he would definitely be
the part of Wenger’s plans.
Wenger told the fans on the official website that Kieran Gibbs would remain out for almost three weeks but Gael Clichy would be back as well. This boost might prove to be good enough for Arsenal to produce a victory at Old Trafford. However, if Cesc Fabregas
is there he would play an important role in leading Gunners to a victory away from home.
The problems in the defence would continue to haunt Arsenal, so the Gunners would have to do well in attack. Samir Nasri and the returning Robin Van Persie would also have to be on top of their game. There are chances that Fabregas would start the match
on the bench which would make the above mentioned players the most important ones for the team. In order to win the match, everything must go right for Wenger on that day. The matters are already moving in the right direction and the return of his captain
might prove to be just the nudge to take Gunners to the victory.
