Football Update: Arsenal News- Bendtner Dropped against Spurs
The young Danish starlet, Nicklas Bendtner will not be a part of the Gunners squad against Spurs today that Wenger rates as the strongest squad he has had during his glistering managerial career with Arsenal.
Apparently, Nicklas’ absence against Wolves last week and Spurs is because he has not recovered full fitness following his groin injury.
Yet, there was no denial from Arsenal manager to the suggestion that Nicklas was being dropped as punishment for venting his frustration at not playing more regularly.
In an outspoken interview in his home-town last week, Nicklas said that he would look for a new club if he was not in Gunners’ starting line-up.
The young Danish striker did also miss the international friendly due to his groin problem, but has been training at Emirates and will play Arsenal’s next Champions League fixture.
The legendary Arsenal manager said: “I’ve not a lot more to add. I believe that he will not be involved but he will play on Tuesday. I rotate the squad. Sometimes, for the players I want to get into the squad for the next game, I decide that its better
they practise rather than sitting on the bench doing nothing, especially when they’re coming back from injuries.”
The surprising depth of Arsenal squad is certainly allowing their manager to be more selective and yesterday Arsene even described it as a strongest squad he has had in last 14 years at Arsenal.
That quality has been underlined in recent matches by the substitutes’ bench, as Arsenal key players spending time out of starting eleven.
When asked about Arsenal’s squad depth in this season, their manager insists that Arsenal has one of the strongest squad of Barclays Premier League and he also added that when everyone is fit to play then it becomes difficult to keep every player happy.
Arsene Wenger also said: "I have to leave players out of the squad that deserve to be in there. If you look at players, who are not in there today, plus [Abou] Diaby and [Thomas] Vermaelen, we have too big a squad.”
Arsenal manager also acknowledged that his city rivals, Spurs, were better than at any time in last 14 years. Arsene Wenger said that it was the first time Spurs finished in the top four since he was here, so it means Spurs achievement was better.
Moreover, English young sensation, Jack Wilshere has been tested fully fit and would start for Arsenal against Spurs even though he received a caution yesterday for common assault following a street brawl.
Jack’s spokesman insisted that the player’s involvement in the brawl, which left two people needing hospital treatment, was that of a peacemaker.
Arsenal manager also confirmed that he would sign a young player from Japan, Ryo Miyaichi, and said that it is very important that Asia is represented at Arsenal.
