Football Update: Arsenal lacks leadership on the pitch - Denilson
The central midfielder Denilson has claimed that "Fabregas is the captain but he is not a leader.”
Arsenal player Denilson has reinstated the ever going debate if the leader is born or groomed. He clarified his stance about the leadership and said that
"it's a personality thing and a leader can be young. It's something they are born with.” Over the years, Arsenal has lacked the leadership qualities on the field; none of their players are vocal and animated. The prime example in the terms of leadership
in the English Premier League is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196. Gerrard is always geared up for the game; he is vocal and very animated during the clashes that help his team to perform.
At the Emirates, Denilson believes "we are lacking leadership and we need leadership to go forward. There isn't a leader. I don't see one player as a leader.” There are few personality traits that are core attributes of the leader, for instance
motivation, vision, intend and many others. Brazilian pointed very rightly and articulated
that "at Arsenal it's more of a collective team at the moment, everyone is talking - but a leader is always important for a team." Denilson triggered this never ending debate and believes Arsenal should land a player with the leadership traits. The
issue is not new however, when ever this issue rose, it has been swept under the carpet.
The current captain Cesc Fabregas has featured in 201 games for Arsenal and has scored 35 goals. The Spaniard is more known for his guile game and silky passing rather than controlling the team as a captain. Fabregas was chosen as a captain at the very young
age by Arsene Wenger. It is seen that the manager promotes a good player as a captain and that true phenomenon of the leadership is least understood by the coach.
Denilson further expressed his views over the goal keeping issues and expressed his opinion by saying that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Almunia-c23386 is the best goal keeper for Arsenal. The first choice goal keeper Almunia is injured and the rumours are growing that he might leave
the Emirates soon for some other club. The third choice keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukasz-Fabianski-c22910 is also injured. On another chance, Szczesny said that
"I treat every single game as my chance. I just want to do my best and leave the decisions to the manager. The manager shows faith in me, so I believe I am ready. Any time I get a chance I will try to prove to him I am ready.”
