Aston Villa’s manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Manchester United and Arsenal in recent times.
Young has been on form this season for Villa as he has played an integral part in Villa’s young team thus far. After the departure of Martin O’Neill, before the season kicked off in August, 2010, the future of Villa’s squad looked bleak as the summer transfer
window saw the Birmingham club acting in quite a miserly manner.
Nonetheless, despite suffering an early shock knockout in the Europa League qualification, Villa have held their own in the English Premier League. For the early part of the season, Kevin MacDonald filled in at Villa’s first team manager’s post before Randy
Lerner appointed Gerard Houllier as the club’s first team manager. Since Houllier’s arrival, the team has seen massive changes as younger players from Villa’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 have been given first team roles in midfield and defensive areas of the pitch.
Young is now considered as a senior member of the squad at Villa and his departure will prove to be a huge blow for Aston Villa’s prospects for a top half finish come May, 2011. Tottenham are also thought to be in the running for Ashley Young’s services,
the Englishman has been quite complimentary of the winter in recent times. No doubt, Villa will do everything in their power to keep hold of the English international football but with the right amount of money, the Villains can be tempted into parting ways
with their most prized asset.
Ashley Young has 18 months left on his contract with Villa at the moment and the youthful midfielder is yet to sign an extension to his current deal. Houllier will be pushing his star athlete to sign a new deal due to the Bosman ruling and the fact that
the player can voluntarily part ways with the club if there are less than 12 months left on his contract with the club.
The French manager expanded on Young’s situation at the club as he said, "Ashley knows that the club's will is to keep him. I'll keep him until the end of his contract and to keep the club developing. He told us very clearly that he would like to end
this season and see what he'll do and we respect that.”
He concluded by stating, "Let's wait and see. At the moment I can tell you that we'll assess things a bit later on. But in the meantime I don't think he'll leave in January. I don't think so." At the moment, Young is facing a fitness battle to be
fit for Villa’s Boxing Day clash with Tottenham Hotspurs.
