Football Update: Atletico Madrid vs. Racing Santander – Match Review (Part 1)
Both, Atletico Madrid and Racing Santander had to settle the game with a goalless draw as the Madrid side were to entertain Racing in their home ground, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Calderon. The game was very quiet as both the teams barely tried shots on goal and there
were very few chances on goal for both the teams. Despite the fact that the shots on goal were minimal, the Los Colchoneros dominated the game with outstanding passing and kept most of the possession of the ball. Most of the opportunities that did come as
the game commenced came from the Madrid side as they made sure they entertained their home crowd.
The game started off at very quick pace. It was only the third minute when the Argentinean striker Sergio Aguero made a run forward and got a wonderful through-ball from Fran Merida. Despite the fact that he found himself 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper, he simply
could not squeeze the ball past Tono even though he was inside the 18 yard box. This was one of those few attacks that kept the crowd going; however, the game started to get slow as time passed.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pedro-Munitis-c29620 suffered an injury during the ninth minute. It looked to be very painful for him as he grabbed his left knee and rolled over the floor. However, he managed to run it off as the medics attended to him well in time. Later, the Portuguese winger
Tiago was forced to leave the pitch after he picked up a groin strain. With Tiago gone, the pace of the game decreased even more as they introduced http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juan-Valera-c19847. The Portuguese’s pace, aggression and hunger for goal were missed by the Los Colchoneros later
on.
The second real goal-scoring opportunity did come later during the first half as the clock showed the half hour mark. It was the Argentinean striker yet again who troubled the Racing defence and his pace was simply unmatchable. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero got a wonderful
through ball yet again and this time it was Diego Godin who easily drove the ball towards him. However, he took too long to cross the ball inside the penalty area and the Racing defender Marc Torrejon easily blocked the threat off by putting his body in the
way and clearing the threat off. Chances did come for Atletico Madrid, the problem was that they were not utilizing them as they missed out on their favourite Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan.
