Football Update: Barcelona and Wolfsburg in battle for Denilson
The Brazilian midfielder of Arsenal, Denilson, has acknowledged there is a slight probability that he could leave the north London giants in winter transfer window.
The Samba star said he cannot rule out a move, even though he is very content with his current situation at Arsenal.
Denilson said: "I am presently happy with Arsenal, but I am a professional player and I can never discard anything in my future.”
The Spanish giants and La Liga title holder, Barcelona are reported to be weighing up a £10 million move for the young midfielder of Arsenal, Denilson.
The La Liga Champions have been linked with a move for the Arsenal captain and their former player, Cesc Fabregas, for quite some time now, and were close to snapping him up during the last transfer window.
However, the last ditch talks of Arsenal’s young skipper with his manager is thought to have convinced Fabregas to continue plying his trade at the Emirates Stadium.
The Catalan club received a significant cash injection through a shirt sponsorship deal with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986 Foundation recently and are believed to be looking to spend a portion of it on Cesc Fabregas.
However, it has been reported that Barcelona sporting director has been chalking out a list of potential targets and Denilson has come out as Barca’s prime target, as Cesc Fabregas could prove to be an expensive spree.
Moreover, the Bundesliga giants, Wolfsburg are also preparing a £ 11million offer for the young Brazilian midfielder of Arsenal. It has been reported earlier this month that Wolfsburg is following Denilson and their manager, Steve McClaren is a huge admirer
of the young Brazilian.
The German outfit are ready to shell out as much as £12 million for the 22-year-old Brazilian holding midfielder of the Gunners.
The Wolfburg’s manager rates Denilson very highly and will urge his team's management to make a move for the Gunners midfielder, who has fallen out of favour at the Emirates Stadium.
The 2009 champions of German top league are currently struggling in German Bundesliga. Wolfsburg have played 16 league matches and are currently placed 14th in the Bundesliga standing only three points adrift of the relegation zone.
Moreover, overall Denilson has made 16 appearances for Arsenal in various competitions so far in this season. The Samba star played 8 times for the Gunners in the Barclays Premier League this term and started only 3 matches for the north London giants.
Furthermore, Denilson has played for and captained his country at every junior level since he was a member of the under-15 squad.
