Football Update: Barcelona vs. Levante – Match Review (Part 2)
The Spanish Champions, Barcelona and the mid table side, Levante started the game with a slower pace. The temperature could be one of the reasons for the slow tempo of the game as it fell to 2 degrees centigrade during the night. However, the La Blaugrana
camped themselves right outside Levante’s 18 yard box.
Barcelona were trying to take full advantage of their home ground and home crowd and that was the reason why their full-team, except Victor Valdes, were inside Levante’s half as the game kicked off in the Nou Camp. Even though the Catalan Giants tried their
best to penetrate through Levante’s defensive walls, the visitors simply denied them the required space and that was the reason why Josep Guardiola’s men decided to take on the goal from outside the box. It all started during the 7th minute when
the Ballon d’Or finalist, Andres Iniesta took a shot from at least 20 yards out. Later, during the 13th minute it was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 who tried his luck on goal from 30 yards. With no goals coming from the first half, Pedro Rodriguez tried his luck
as well as he took a shot from outside the box during the 40th minute of the game. Barcelona were finding it difficult to get past Levante as the visitors were doing very well to block the attacks coming from David Villa, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bojan-Krkic-c7794 and Pedro Rodriguez. Later, the Brazilian full back, Daniel Alves decided to come up front as well as the Catalans found Levante’s defensive walls very frustrating.
Josep Guardiola was playing a very different formation. The home team were to play this La Liga fixture without their favourite striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296, who took special permission from Josep Guardiola to let him stay home for a longer time. With the Argentinean
returning late from home, it was the La Masia product Bojan Krkic who took his place in the team as a centre-forward. The Spanish youngster was expected to do wonders with the ball and up front but it was just not his night as he did not really do as good
as everyone expected him to do. The young and talented striker got two chances that could find the back of the net on any other day; however, he could not really avail the opportunities and it was definitely an off night for him.
