Football Update: Barcelona vs. Levante – Match Review (Part 6)
The Catalan coach, Josep Guardiola restructured the Barcelona midfield. Andres Iniesta moved up front on the left flank as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071
was taken off and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 and Pedro Rodriguez.
Thiago Alacantra made serious impact on the game as he provided the team with not only pace but also a great opportunity to score during the 71st minute. The young La Masia product gave Pedro Rodriguez a wonderful through ball to not only help
the team score a goal but also to help him get his hat-trick. However, the star of the show could not finish the move off and a great opportunity was wasted by the Spanish Champions.
It looked as if it was all over; however, the Uruguayan striker Stuani made sure that his team are back in the game. It was during the 75th minute when he was substituted for Rafa Jorda and in the 80th minute, he showed immediate impact.
The Uruguayan pulled one back for his team with a tremendous left-footed strike. There were only 10 minutes left in the game and Levante clearly believed that they could get another. However, the home side were on their search towards the third goal to finish
the game off. The home team looked to be more offensive during the last ten minutes as Levante were pushed back onto their defensive lines. However, there was definitely a sense of hope in the visitors’ long balls that were delivered forward as they tried
to find the back of the net in a cinematic sort of way.
With the final whistle blowing, Barcelona won their 11th Spanish La Liga game in a row even though the score line did not tell the whole story. It was one-way traffic even though Levante tried to defend at their best but the home team were definitely
the better side. The fans celebrated twice during the game. Once, it was for the Argentinean centre back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maxwell-c25051, the crowd stood up to welcome him on the pitch. Later, after
the game, the crowd applauded the Catalan midfield Xavi Hernandez who managed to make a record in the club by playing the highest number of games for the La Blaugrana.
The whole crowd sat down to listen to Xavi Hernandez who gave out a speech and it was definitely a good way to end a nerve-racking evening which most of the fans did not expect. However, with a win coming towards Josep Guardiola’s side, it meant that they
were to sit top 5 points clear to Real Madrid who are to play their game on Monday.
