But the win against Newcastle United on the Boxing Day gave him and the team
a huge relief.
Newcastle keeper Tim Kurl misjudged his pass to Joey Barton and the ball rushed to the midfielder. On the other hand, Tevez made no mistakes anticipating well to gain possession of the ball and slided a pass into the run of Barry, who made it look easy clearing
Kurl and into the bottom corner of the net.

Newcastle were prone to target the aerially powerful Carroll resulting a suspension for the forthcoming visit to White Hart Lane for Kevin Nolan.
The home side continued to play with plenty of effort and endeavour after the break and was eventually rewarded with a goal in the 72nd minute.
"We were two up in a few minutes but I wouldn't call Newcastle generous. The game changed with those goals but Newcastle made it very difficult for us. They are a strong side and they look for Andy Carroll a lot. I thought we defended him well. It was
important for us to work hard and that is what we did."- Roberto Mancin
"We made two big errors and that put us on the back foot. After that the performance was sensational at times and we caused a top team a lot of problems. The commitment and attitude of the players was spot on but it was not the first time we have gifted
goals away and we have to quickly eradicate that, we must cut that out.”- Alan Pardew
