Football Update: Bayern in desperate attempts to hold on to Schweinsteiger
German Giants Bayern Munich are already without star player Ajern Robben and Franck Ribery due to injuries, as they look all set to tie their ace midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for a longer term.
The German midfielder has become one of the hottest properties in Europe after speculations that he might leave Bayern in the January transfer window. The biggest club have been sniffing around him and would love to sign him because he has come off his age.
He is already looking all set to join the likes of great midfielders of their time.
Bayern are set to offer him a new bumper deal to put a stop to any chance of a move to either the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona or Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window. But it is a big question mark whether the midfielder would like
to stick around a club who have an awful start to their campaign and are languishing far behind the league leaders.
The German midfield maestro became one of the stars during 2010 World Cup which was played in South Africa and now has been in radar of both Chelsea’s manager Carlo Ancelotti and Man United’s Sir Alex Ferguson. The pair are look all set top vie for him in
order to lure him to premier league but one can not deny the possibility of a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Both Ancelotti and Ferguson look really determine to land Schweinsteiger in order to bring some sort of class and creativity in their midfield department and with Bayern Munich having a disastrous spell of late to their Bundesliga campaign, Manchester United
and Chelsea will believe that they can finally tempt him to join them.
Bayern are currently in the lower half of the table at the 11th position after nine matches and a huge twelve points behind leaders Mainz. With such uncertainty surrounding the club, there have been rumours around the Allianz Arena that the 26-year-old
midfielder is seriously considering his options, as he believes that Bayern have lost their hunger to remain the best club in the country.
Schweinsteiger's contract will not expire at the end of the season so this will be interesting as United and Chelsea will not have permission to speak to him but this gives twist to the saga as they can allegedly contact him and sign him in January.
His new contract talks have stopped as both parties have failed to reach an agreement and with his current contract expiring in 2012. This situation opens a possibility of a move, even more as Bayern Munich would be looking to cash on their one of the most
valuable assets.
German giants now look all set to receive bids in January and it would be in best of interest for him and the club to part their ways because such uncertainty can destabilize a team and surely, Bayern would not want that especially given their woeful position
in Bundesliga.
But there have been other news surfacing around that his current club are planning to offer Schweinsteiger a mega deal of around £140,000 a week. And this looks really interesting as this would make him the team's top earner, toppling Franck Ribery. Now
this can be a twist in the tale but only time will tell what he will do.
If he wants to win trophies than he would certainly move no matter if Bayern doubled his current wages and Manchester United looks likely to be a better option for him, as he has the chance to work with ever green Sir Alex Ferguson.
