Football Update: Bob Bradley’s term extended by the U.S Soccer Federation
Bob Bradley’s job seems safe for the time being as no one can argue with the fact that the American National football Team Manager has generally upgraded the level of soccer awareness in the country.
For starters, people actually know who Landon Donovan is; the American people are finding out that their players are playing in the best Leagues and against the best teams in the World.
Bradley actually created some passion for the sport in most towns of the country and it is really something when you cheer for your own boys in the Football World Cup and getting to that level, has helped the sport a lot in this country.
Bob Bradley has definitely done some commendable work for soccer in the United States and the only reason questions were being raised against him was because of the poor finish the red, White and Blue team had in the World Cup.
One thing that should be noted in fact is that the American team did show some glimpses of promise and hope in their play and at the start. It was actually expected of them to win their group. Still Ghana kicked them out of the running for the second time in history.
This was a big step forward for the United States, as they not only finished at the top of their group but also scored a point against their bitter rivals, the Three Lions!
Bob Bradley proved to the world that he is a very productive manager and interestingly his job was revolving around Jurgen Klinsmann, as a lot of hype was created for the Americans to succeed, so they wanted to replace the team boss.
Bob Bradley is absolutely adored by the players but Klinsmann has proven himself where Bradley did not. Jurgen Klinsmann was a German player and coach, and he is seriously being considered to replace Bradley as the American national team boss.
The image and thought of a German coaching the American national team will not go down so well by the fans, and it will create some rifts if nothing else.
However, the fact remains that the management hopes that all these complaints will be answered over time and when the team improves and proves themselves, then all these complaints will just vaporize into nothing.
It was just an image that a lot of people could not get through their heads, the idea of the United States actually winning the World Cup and then a German backing them all the way and being a major cause for this great national honour.
Well nothing is changing for now, as Bob Bradley still holds the reins to the American team, and it seems unlikely that he will let them go any time soon.
In the end, the same questions are raised, whether Bob Bradley is the right man for the job or can they get some one better.
After the whole incident in South Africa, with all the trouble that occurred in the team and the referees, there is obviously some optimism.
The question being asked now is that should we give these same guys another chance, as there is so much glory in winning this tournament and its only one team, one country every four years, so the stakes are very high. Some say that with Donovan and Bradley calling all the shots this would just remain to be ’a dream.’
This is the dream similar to what fans had for the 2010 World Cup and with Bradley still at the top and going for another go; the USA is going to give another shot to bring that glorious trophy home.
Landon Donovan will be four years older then and will probably be going through his final run in tournament and some say a fairy tale end would be ideal for these boys representing the Red, White and the Blue.
