Football Update: Bundesliga News- Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery severely injures ankle in Hoffenheim defeat.
The Bayern Munich midfielder and winger Franck Ribery has injured his ankle on Tuesday, in a victorious match during a Bundesliga fixture. The injury happened when they were playing against the German club Hoffenheim.
Officials from the club have confirmed that the French international has been injured and therefore will not play in the upcoming fixtures. This does leave the club in jeopardy, as the start of season has not sent them flying. They were positioned at 5th
place and are really in need of gaining some points if they wish to acquire the title again.
They also told that for now, they cannot confirm the extent of the damage but they have set a team of doctors that are assessing and examining the world class midfielder.
On Tuesday evening, the match took an interesting turn when Hoffenheim’s Vedad Ibisevic scored a goal in the first minute. But from then onwards despite the injury it was all Bayern Munich as Thomas Müller netted the ball in the 63rd minute to
level the game and a late 90th minute thrilling goal was provided by Daniel van Buyten. End score was 2-1.
Bayern Munich’s coach Louis van Gaal stated that he was extremely happy with the club’s performance but was saddened by Ribery’s injury. He stated that now the club is in further peril for a successful campaign, as they face a similar situation after the
Dutch super star Arjen Robben got himself injured.
The manager collaborated on Ribery’s injury that he along with fans were waiting for the results on the scan of his ankle. He added that the first report from doctors categorize the injury as serious so the star will be out for a couple of weeks at least
but it can only be confirmed when the final assessment report files in a couple of hours.
The French winger was in agony when he twisted his ankle, 20 minutes into the second half. At that moment, the pain was so severe that the player needed help to get himself of the field.

The Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has expressed his opinion on the diagnosis too. He is in total disagreement of the first assessment report and believes that the injury is much more brutal than the doctors have reckoned. He uttered that Ribery might even
be out for the next few months and that ultimately will ruin the League Champions campaign.
Last season Bayern Munich were also the finalist of Champions League where they were only defeated by the Giants of Italy, Inter Milan.
While talking to media Rummenigge stated, “The initial diagnosis does not look good. It could be that something is broken or there could be some serious ligament damage.”
