Football Update: Chelsea hitman Nicolas Anelka targets FFF with cheeky celebration.
Chelsea’s star striker Nicolas Anelka has targeted the French Football Federation (FFF) by celebrating his goal against MSK Zilina in a “handcuffed” position. The player managed to score a brace against Zilina in the Champions league encountered and offered
a clever retort to the FFF. Anelka was recently handed an 18 match International ban from the French Federation following his major role in the national side’s revolt during this summer’s World Cup. That decision doesn’t seem to affect the striker, as he has
laughed off the decision with his goal celebration.
The player has then took his derision to another level by celebrating the goal with a handcuff gesture and told the interviewer after the match that it was targeted at the FFF of what happened at the World Cup. Anelka was confidant that the other players
would understand it. The player claimed that whatever happened in the summer was the past and is now fully focused of presenting trophies to Chelsea. Manager Carlo Ancelotti would be delighted by the player’s comments, following his praise for the striker’s
performance.
Yet he took his derision a step further here by celebrating his first of his two goals with a handcuff gesture. When asked afterwards what it was all about, he said
“Just something for the French Federation about what happened at the World Cup. The other French players will understand it.”
"We came out here to win and we're delighted to do that. I think everyone will be happy with the win because the main thing was to do that in the Champions League. To get three points on the board is fantastic for the team,
claimed the former AC Milan coach. The manager also pointed out that Daniel Sturridge, who replaced the suspended Drogba on the front line, claiming that the player’s Champions League goal would hopefully up his spirits and expects much more to come. Sturridge
himself claimed that he had been dreaming of this moment ever since he was a young boy and hoped much more success in the coming season.
Carlo Ancelotti has also confirmed that English midfielder Frank Lampard, who had to sit out from this encounter owing to injury, has successfully trained on Wednesday and would be featuring in the Premier league game against Blackpool.
Anelka is one of the most decorated strikers of his time, having played in almost all parts of Europe. The player has played in Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Fenerbahce and Bolton Wanderers, before joining Chelsea in 2008. This season,
he has already scored 4 goals in five appearances for his side and was the Golden Boot in his first season with Chelsea. In his entire career with various big name clubs, Anelka has scored 186 times in over 500 appearances and is considered to be one of the
best in box finishers on the planet.
Chelsea has been unstoppable this season as they have maintained a 100% win record so far in every competition this season. Having such a record against the top teams of England and Europe would be difficult to maintain but currently, the form that the entire
team is in; it’s not hard to consider them favourites of every competition they enter. Chelsea currently tops the premier league table, 2 points clear of Arsenal. Their forward line, namely Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and Nicholas Anelka are in their thirty’s
and doesn’t seem to age. Chelsea scored 103 goals last season, claiming the World Record of most goal scored in the premier league. This season, there are also in their top form and have already thwarted sides by managing two 6-0 wins in the premier league.
