Football Update: EPL- Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Chelsea (Full time report)
Things cannot become more embarrassing for the premier league champions. With Carlo Ancelotti ruling out a possible title chase this season, Chelsea looked to secure a top four finish in the premier league.
A trip to low lying Wolves can never be considered as a tough task to the Blues, who managed a comfortable win over the side last season. However, that was not the case on the night, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 managed shocking win to defeat Chelsea.
It was a dubious goal conceded in the first half by Chelsea that stood between the two sides. Fletcher went on claim the goal, when a Stephan Hunt corner flew into the box which evaded everyone. Fletcher then put in the finishing touches and all the Chelsea
defence were left dumbfounded as to how they conceded.
Both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 and Jose Bosingwa are to be blamed for the goal but Wolves had the lead in the opening six minutes. The goal knocked some sense into the Champions, who looked to add some creativity and flair to the attack. Drogba, Kalou and Malouda gave
the home side a tough time but Wolves were resilient. Drogba was denied a chance to equalize, when the Ivorian striker hit the outside of the goal post. Kalou had a golden chance to equalize only moments later, when he found himself one on one with the goal
keeper. The 26 year old couldn’t keep his cool and fired right into the hands of the advancing Hennessey and goalkeeper held the ball.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523 respectively. Anelka brought in a lot of experience to the side and Chelsea went strong every
time they attacked. Yet, Wolves held on for dear life each time a long distance shot was taken and refused to bow down to the star power and brute strength of Chelsea.
Manager Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 made some smart substitution towards the end of the game, when he introduced the likes of Milijas and Ebanks Blake to hold on to the side. Wolves may have doubled their lead had Stephan Hunt’s free kick dipped more. The ball hit
the bar instead and the Skipper was unlikely to take his side into a comfortable position.
Yet it were all three points for Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of the match and the Stadium exploded with joy with the final whistle. It was a highly unlikely win for Wolves, as the three points have taken them out of the relegation zone. For Chelsea,
the misery continues as the loss has taken them 12 points behind Manchester United, who still have a match to play. Should United win that fixture, they may be 15 points ahead of the Champions and a top four finish now looks to be the agenda for the Blues.
Ancelotti would be furious on his back line and the overall performance of his players, who don’t look like the site who managed 103 goals last season.
The problem behind Chelsea’s dip in form is still unknown but many blame the departure of assistant manager Ray Wilkins the reason behind it. Whatever may well be the case, Chelsea need to regroup and re gain their form and look for the reason behind the
dip. For Wolves, the day couldn’t have been better as they are out of the relegation zone by beating a side with whom they haven’t won in all five premier league fixtures.
